SnowBall Express - Dedication Flight

I recorded this video of a dedication flight to the Snow Ball Express. It is an organisation serving the children of fallen soldiers who have given their lives to us all.

This was held in the Cardinal's Stadium (home of the SuperBowl 2008) located in Glendale, Arizona.

I am not sure whether it was planned that the start time was at 9:11 pm. I so happened to notice the time on the Jumbotron as the dedication started.

The organizers of the Electric Flight Expo did a tremendous job putting this together. A keynote speaker was Dick Rutan himself!

I had a blast flying indoors in this huge covered stadium!

Good video. God bless our troops--those who are serving and those who have fallen.

What a show ! ! ! Got to meet Dick Rutan, Andrew Jesky, Mark Leesberg, and all the others you read about in the magazines. Yup, flying in that stadium was great but that night show was SPECTACULAR ! Moved me to tears. As a Veteran, it meant even more. Congratulations to the EXPO staff and the folks at Empire Hobby. What a show. I'll be there next year.

For those who didn't know, the dedication flight was flown by kids! Well, kids to most of us. Nick Maxwell led the flight and I think he is 18. Kyle Stacy and Matt Stringer were his wingmen and I don't think either one of them is a teenager yet. After Nick flew the plane out of the stadium, Alex Lies took over and landed. Alex is now 21. Instead of flying throughout the best flying day with the rest of us, Alex spent nearly 6 hours on Saturday outfitting Nicks plane with all those lights. He embedded each light, wire and connector in the airplane so it wouldn't affect the flight performance. All the lights were drive by a 3S1300 Thunder Power battery. It truly was a work of art.

It was a great thrill and honor to work with these fine young men on this dedication. They really stepped up to the plate and gave of themselves....

Thank you all for watching the dedication.

Scott, I am glad you put names to the pilots. Those guys did a wonderful job.

I wonder what special "surprise" we will get to watch next year!

I will have my video camera ready again!
