Greetings all.

Just ordered my FIRST 3DHobbyshop plane and decided to go with the Slick. I am an intermediate pilot, but wanted to start getting slightly bigger planes. My current fleet is generally smaller stuff such as Eflite Mini-Showtime, Multiplex Acromaster, foamies, Eflite Mini-Pulse, etc.

I did recenlty get a used Extreme Flight Vanquish (I did not know about 3DHobbyshop and the Aspera at the time!). I bought some 2500 and 3300 4 cell packs (Evo25)f or the Vanquish that Ihope will work good in the Slick also.

I know i will not be able to fly this plane to it's ability, but at least I have room to grow! I am not sure about the motor yet though. I have read through this thread and have seen a few different ones mentioned. I want one with plenty of power and that will go on without any mods (My building skills are limited).

From what I have read about 3DHobbyshop, I am sure this will be the first of many planes I purchase from them. Looking forward to the build thread!!!

Yep,

3DH generally don't mark up / down because they give you the "best pricing" upfront. I personally like that kind of pricing structure better.

Slick detail photos post #1

Guys - I'm going to be doing a full build on the Slick in here over the next couple of weeks, so we'll start with some parts photos, a "what's in the box?" tour.

All of these parts are just as they come out of the box, no additional work has been done. We designed this build to be the fastest build possible. As you can see, much more than usual has already been done for the pilot, to get him into the air ASAP.

A special note on landing gear. We're always trying to make this part of the aircraft better and better, since good LG makes for a fun and easy-to-own airplane. For the Slick, we're using a one-piece very-strong molded Carbon Fiber gear. The landing gear plate is a double-thickness fabrication made from plywood/fiberglass composite. The plate ties into 3 separate formers in the fuse. We think this is the best landing gear in electric ARFs.

More to come.

Looks great Ben. The landing gear area looks extremely tough. Can't wait for mine to arrive!

Hardware

Guys who have built the latest 3DHobbyShop planes will recognize most of this hardware. Aluminum wheel axles and aluminum wheel collars provide a light, durable setup. Thumbscrews as usual for wing attachment. The 4 long 3mm bolts are for motor mounting, and 6mm white nylon tubular spacers are included for use with the shorter 150g class outrunners. The spacers are not needed with the longer outrunners such as the GR-45, A30-12XL, etc.

New for our kits is the inclusion of spare hardware parts. the second photo is a detail of the spares included. Just the commonly lost, broken parts.

Pushrods are ball links on both ends, with safety washers for the ball-link nuts.

Ben, I have a set of 3DHS long arms waiting on the Slick as I saw that Josh was running them, but you are recommending the Dubro arms? Will either work fine?

Those two sets of arms are for different servos. Josh is running Hs-65's which we *DO NOT RECOMMEND*. Instead, we recommend (and the plane is cut for) HS-85MG. The 3DHS arms do not fit HS-85MG.

Ben is right. the AJ Slick, properly powered, really needs the HS 85MG. The Dubro arms will work for that.

Sweet pics Ben. Looks great.

I just found 2 HS85s with plastic gears. I don't know if they will be enough for ailerons with an A30x10XL on 3S. I may just replace them.

I'd replace them. It's not worth loosing the Slick over that.
