I crammed in two very quick flights this morning before having to head into work in order to test out the new servos. I encountered an issue though and it had me scratching my head. Everytime I tried to do a stall turn the plane would fly over the top instead of pivot like it normal does - almost like I was getting blowback which I knew shouldn't be happening.

Turns out that one of the screws holding the servo to the tray (the one towards the front of the plane) had pulled complete out. So I need to put some thin CA in there and screw it back down.

I'll get that fixed and then see what I think. So far the difference between the 85's and the 5085's seems very subtle but noticeable.

I don't notice digital as much on the smaller birds. I bang the sticks more with the 51 and fly less precision so the 85's tend to suit my use. Everything above the 48-51 has digitals..just my personal use.

I tend to agree with you on this although I THINK/hope I'll see a slight improvement on this plane. I think the biggest difference that is noticeable on the ~50" planes is getting 6v to the servos. That will make a pretty dramatic change in how crisp she feels and how much bite you'll see when doing all the high energy stuff. On my old 48" Edge I went from analog to digital and at the same time added an external UBEC so that I could get 6v to the servos and it made a pretty dramatic difference.

I currently have 985's on my 71" Slick and I'm looking to upgrade to digital for sure. Just trying to decide between the 7945SH and the 7955TG. They are both similarly priced on Servo City so it's really just a matter of getting whatever will yield the best possible results.

Go 7955. They are so solid and if you choose to move up to 50cc or 100cc you have servos you could potentially use. You will notice a HUGE difference in the 71 for sure!

Mike, another choice of servos for your 71 would be the Align DS-610's (rebranded Savox 1258TG's) Iv'e got a set on my 71 and a set for my 74 Edge. Plenty fast and powerful. Can be had for about $56 each (big motivating factor for me LOL.)

The 7954 & 7955s are the same servo but with different gear material. The 7955s have titanium and the 7954s have steel like the 985s you have now. That's why the 7954s are cheaper. We have the 7954 & the 7955 on planes up to 100cc with no issues with either.

I got my first set of these from one of the heli guys at my field. He had four BNIP and wanted $200. The most recent set I got from evilbay for $225 for all four. Some of the heli guys are using them at 8V, a lot are running 7.2V Lipos either regulated or not, and quite a few have reported good results running 6.6V LiFE packs unregulated.

Here are the specs.

Went looking for the seller on evilbay, but couldn't find the servos.

+100 on the Align DS-610 servos. I have those in my 72 and they are incredibly fast servos. I wish I could find a similar deal for the 51.
