Anyone Know How to Fly an RC Airplane? WAA-08 Needs You.

Not sure if you have seen or heard about our adventure of flying an RC plane across the USA but we have 238 pilots signed up right now but still need a few more to fill in the gaps. We especially need pilots in Maine, North Dakota, Central Nebraska, western Colorado, central Washington, central California, SW New Mexico, Mississippi, the Florida Panhandle, and southern GA.

Here is the map link:

I signed up - I hope we get some more people to think about it. I really am excited about the idea of the same plane being handed off from flyer to flyer, going around the country. We'll each get to meet at least 2 other pilots and have a chat with them. The plane chosen is a very easy to fly plane that performs much better than a "normal" trainer does.

Frank has done a lot of leg-work getting this idea off the ground and the input from each pilot is minimal....

1) meet the prior pilot
2) chat a few minutes
3) fly the plane at your field
4) meet the next pilot and chat a few minutes

EASY!
FUN!

Jim is right. Can't get much easier than that. Few minutes to fly the plane, snap a photo and a little gas to give the plane to the next pilot.

Sure could use some folks that know how to fly a parkflyer that is willing to participate.

I'm flying

I signed up. I read your link in Electric Airplane Talk (950 replies; 18,500 views) explaining the task. I think it's cool that the same airplane will fliy in all 48 states. To see more about the plane, go to StevensAero - SQuiRT Speed 400 Electric RC Airplane, Trainer/Parkflyer http://www.stevensaero.com/Trainers-p-1-c-37.html

I have the first 42 pilot positions set in stone. See your number on the map:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UT...045fb2c7ae1f68

I also started mapping out the mileages.

I have completed 15 pilots.

Longest drive so far is 124 miles by Marsh D in Chantilly, VA.

Shortest drive so far is 22 Miles by Brad D in Frederick, MD.

Average distance drove by all of the 15 pilots is 53 miles.

Total mileage of the WAA-08 plane in 15 pilots is 792.

More to follow when I get time.
