Here ya go

I'm no expert, very far from it but when I attempt this build I'll go the sand down option just to get a more scale look.

Out of those plans there, which would be a quick and easier thing to build to have a bit of fun with? I'm a newbie, so it would be my first plane.

By the way, I am going to get a plane like the Easystar. It's just that I think Id like to try out one of these as well.

Catweazle, if you are talking about the Illusion, Stinger & the BB33 J3 cub, the Illusion & Stinger would be easier builds but the BB33 is a much (IMHO) better plane for a newb to fly. The other 2 will be much more responsive and also have ailerons which if you are a true newb to this hobby, you will love building them, but will not enjoy crashing them.
Tony65x55's BluBaby thread is newb plane heaven with a bunch of peeps that get excited to help a newb build & fly his first plane.
The BB is RET, Rudder, Elevator, Throttle. Wonderful set up to learn to fly with. The Easystar is an RET, which makes it a good trainer.
But flying a light weight low or mid wing aileron plane will only bring frustration and more repairing than flying. You could build the BB33 with it's removable wing & add a wing with ailerons once you are ready. It is an extremely versatile plane with ton's of options for different wings with different flying qualities.

Just my 2 cents as I am a newb as well.
Hope this helps.

Here's a 32" EPP Wing I built. Nothing really new, I just stole ideas from lots of others and gave it a go. Pretty simple build with nice speed range and easy wing to control.

Both the Illusion and Stinger are easy builds but of the two the Stinger will slow down the best and fly at a walking pace. The Illusion is a tough little plane and can take lots of newbie abuse. Either plane will work for a beginner especially if you have a little bit of computer simulator stick time. FMS is a great sim. program and very inexpensive too. Have fun with whatever plane you start with !!
