Looking for plans

Greetings,

Looking to get back into the hobby after a long hiatus into hot rods and custom cars.

Found a few photos of a scratch build Depron foamy similar to an F22, saw mention of the plans being on line, but canít seem to track them down. The plane I believe is called a Dominator AL609C.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction? Thanks
Rick

My latest bird, the 'Essie'. Based on the SE-5a, she's a foamie with some balsa and light ply. The model's built from pink foam, covered with newsprint and brown Dollar Store wrapping paper, using a 50/50 mix of Titebond II and water. Final painting is rattlecan Rustoleum. Roundels are Ultracote/Profilm (except for the rudder; that's paint, blue Rustoleum, and red Ultracote).

For the WWI wheels, I cut plastic discs, sanded them (so the paint & glue would hold), then glued them to DuBro/HobbyKing 3" thin wheels.

We maidened the Essie on 11 Nov (appropriate date for a WWI fighter ). She needed a LOT of down & right aileron/rudder, but, once trimmed out, she was an easy flier. Stalls were uneventful; rolls are slower than most sport planes, but still reasonable. Landing was easy (although, on grass, she still wound up on her nose).

Hey Dunsel,

Beautiful job on the SE-5. You are taking "foamie" to a new level.

Great day for a WWI tribute - I'm sure you got Dereck smiling.

Dominator

Maybe this will do,It is for a 70mm EDF but can be converted to a pusher.

Hi all, I'm looking for an 'unusual' 3d capable plane, preferably delta or swept forward wing, maybe a canard?

I've done quite a few of the square / rectangular / round wing 3d planes but I'm lookig for something new.

I'm not too concerned about size/ weight since I'l modify that anyway, I'm mostly just looking for a good planform

No plans are available but you could do what I did and start with the Alula wing planform and take it from there. The forward swept wing makes it really fun to fly. Huge full span ailerons and tail surfaces and a nice big carbon fiber prop round out my plane. Eventually I added landing gear.

My latest version uses a small section box frame carried all the way to the stab. My first version, depicted in my avatar, was susceptable to tail breakage without this box section.

That looks really interesting, not quite as "out there" as I was looking for, but a good place to start. I looked through your attachments but couldn't find any pictures of either of them, do you have any you could upload?

How well does it do 3d compared to a typical 3d plane? Maybe similar to an edge 540, since its also forward swept?

FSW Model Plane Foam original

Sorry for the clutter! I'm in the middle of a couple of projects and just brought down the plane for pictures...

That's a carbon fiber prop, 10x4.75, runs on 3s 2200's usually. I think the motor is 1250Kv. Unlimited vertical, easily hangs on the prop. Flies fairly slowly, rapid roll rate. Could use larger elevator and rudder for real 3-D flying. I use this bird to hone my precision flying skills when I'm not sloping.

The wing has an arrow shaft for a spar and is fairly thin, symmetrical. Plenty of washout at the tips. Will not spin in the usual way and stalls are pretty much non-existent.

Maybe this will spark something in you to build...

I'm sorry but I can't compare it to other 3-D planes, I have no direct experience.

You are welcome. One thing about this build that is a little different than most is the solid block of foam mid fuse. I had some extra stiff packaging foam laying around, very light, easy to carve for canopy shape. Adds quite a bit of rigidity to the fuse.

Good luck!

Thanks to Brock (APlane) over at FT for the plans and Callie for the graphics, this is my first hot wire scratch built plane.
