Nice 1 Doc.

What provision do you make to ensure the blockeron is mounted square and true?

Notice we are not gluing anything in just yet, we just want to make sure the blocks will fit where we want them and the drive arms clear the inside of the hatch.

Samo- these blocks are square and the bore is true to the sides. Sammy and contender have pretty much flat and parallel sides, so you pretty much shake it in and the sides make it true.
Before we glue it in, we will have the side holes drilled and then use the wing rod to help referance the orthagonality of the layout. That's the beauty of a monoblock; all the precision and rigidity is in the block.

Contender fuse is just a tad wider and the sides flex a little bit easier.
The narrow Universal block fits in really sweet. These planes really lend themselves to the monoblock because of their parallel sides.

Even the Xica block I installed in this fuse was pretty much self aligning. This block has taper front to back, but was pretty easy to line up with the wing rod installed, and some simple measurements.

Those Sammy fuses from Ed are great, tough as nails and a excellent platform for an own design TWF. Didn't know he had Contenders too, Ed you holding out on us?

Doug, thanks for detailing the how-to, looks like a cakewalk (once you've seen it done). Quick question: what is the OD of the tube that get glued in the wing?

Ed bought a shipload of Sammy fuses when SIG closed them out a while back.
AFAIK Ed only got 1 Contender fuse from Dane (Dane is the guy that has some of the old CR molds) That's why he really really really wants it back when I'm done measuring on it. I missed out on those fuses

The solid wing rod is 5/16 diameter
The torque tubes are 5/16 ID, 3/8 OD.
THis means that when you build a wing for this hardware, you will need a 3/8 ID tube glued into the wing, flush with the root.
As a final part of the install, the 3/8 OD torque tubes will be glued into the wing with about 1" sticking out past the wing root.
Don't do this yet, it will be the very last step in installing the bling system, and getting it right is pretty important.

I see, so is 6" plenty of 3/8" ID tube in the wing construction?

OK I shipped a bunch of hardware today. More to go out as I get them assembled.
Meanwhile, here's a link to an old thread on installing the hardware. I'll add more here when I get there.
