High band or low? Freq/Rx

Hi,
I, still somewhat of a rooky, noticed that receivers and freq crystals
are sold in either high band (chan 36-60) or low band (chan 11-35). Is
there any advantage or disadvantage to using one over the other?
Thanks,
Kevin

There is no "advantage" to either. Check with the local flyers to see if
there is any known interference and avoid those channels.

Futaba designates their receivers as high or low band. This simply
indicates that the receiver was tuned to either the high or low end of the
band and should use the corresponding crystals. Most other manufacturers do
not set limits on what crystals may be used. I don't know of any advantage
of using either high or low channels, but it is always a good idea to check
with other flyers at your field to determine if any particualr channels have
a history of interferrence. It is also a good idea to avoid heavily used
channels so that you don't have to wait for other flyers.

Pick channels without a history of interference PLUS pick channels tha
are the least populated at your regular field. I'm the only one on
channel 21 at our club field, heh, heh.
