Build Log

American Sailplane over England...

This could be the shortest build log yet... Last year some guys in Germany contaced WilliamsTowers to say they were producing a Schweizer 2-32 kit based on my old 1/4 scale plan. I decided to order a fuz and tailplane as I rather fancied trying out the new HQ Akro wing section. The stuff duly arrived and was made nicely enough. So I set to work, building a set of wooden wings in the process. For Schweizer lovers, you might be interested in the panel line/rivet set from MIck Reeves Models: tedious to apply but quite convincing. (Although the 2-32 probably has flush rivets!) The model is based on a bird that flies out of Hawaii and sticking a servo inside the pilot requires some delicate surgery.

Here's the video of it's 1st aerotow session; be sure to have the sound up to to enjoy the pilot's reaction to the mid-air emergency.

Schweizer 2-32 1st flights (8 min 6 sec)

Only Chris can entertain us with a spectacular model or two set to an orignal score. And the video ain't all that bad either!

Fantastic,

Steve

Chris,
You should take and put together a DVD of all your video clips......now that would be a "Best of Scale Soaring" DVD!

Nice sailplane, Chris, and great piloting, as always! Nice music, too. You must make your living playing music.

What video camera are you using?

Hotdog, I'm still in the process of trying out the flycamone2. Apart from its battery problems, I really like it!

I repair cars for a living; music is just another hobby, really...

Ross, you can contact the 2-32 manufacturer here:

He works on a patrol boat off the German Bight, so sometimes you have to wait for a reply...!

Hotdog asked about mounting the camera...here's how I do it:

(The long one is for the wing tip of a gull wing...so you can see past the gull break!)
