Yeah Don...you bought it before I did! HA! I was scratching my head, checking my wallet and "POOF"...the taube was gone! Like they say.... "You snoose you loose!"

But I'm glad you got it because you look like you have a great plan for the electric set-up. Make sure you check this build from Franny. She does an excelent job on the conversion and made a beautiful model:

I'll keep looking at your progress. The two things I will be curious about is prop clearance and how much room do you have for those batteries. I'll see how you do it...then I might go buy the kit!

Jodini,

It arrives tomorrow.

I'll check out the other build of the BaLSA USA kit.

Thanks,

Don

Just finished reading the other thread , and I must say, great job on your build.

A lot of my questions were answered about the scale motor.

Thanks again.

My new toy arrived, so today is a good day.

Kit looks good but I'll know a lot more tomorrow when I lay it out.

I always take a day or two to just look at the plans and try to anticipate any problems I might run into in the conversion i.e. battery location, motor location, access,
control surface, pull-pull runs etc.

Pictures will follow tomorrow.

I started with a parts check and everything seems to be here.

Motor will fit as well as the 7S A-123's.It looks as though the batteries will be under the wing so they will be charged onboard.

I mocked up the ribs for a quick look at where we are going.

This is NOT a beginner kit. I'm spending a lot of time trying to figure out where I'm going and how to get there.

Project for tomorrow: I'm going to go cruise the toy departments looking for 5-6" wire wheels from some cheap toy.

Good luck on the wheel hunt!

On the thing under the wing....you better ask Franny B on that one. She took the pics.
Franny?

Hi guys,

Yeah, I think those are the radiators. That is also what all the tubing above the engine is all about. We are talking like 1912 so things are a bit primitive. That replica does have a n original engine!

Good luck on the wheels. I think mine are Top Flight wheels and they are a little pricey...

Thanks Franny,

That's kinda what I thought. That's OK about being primative, it should made it easier for me to it figure out

I too have the Top Flite wheels but these need to be 5 or 6's, so off I go.

BTW, you did a great job on yours, congrats.

We have a rough finish on the right wing so when I build the left I'll post pix of the critical points.

Looking good Don....I'll be watching! I love my 40 size so much, I would be tempted to build the bigger one. I'll be most interested on electric conversion of things.

Very excited for you....you'll love how this thing looks in the air!

Thanks Joe.

I just received the Sloartex today in "Antique" and I think it will make this guy look beautiful.

Thanks for the tip.
