Do you think that it's repairable?
That is hard to say without actually looking at it to see what popped and let out smoke, etc.
Maybe, maybe not. Hopefully only a voltage regulator on the inside went. So the choice is to send it in or get a new one. Yes it is a hard decision for that.

Icharger 106B

I accidently left a lipo connect in a plane, and now my icharger says "bal low".

Can I recharge this battery? Any special instructions for my icharger?

Thanks!

This happens all of the time and thus like many FAQ is covered by a Sticky.

For clumsy people like me... it would be handy if the balance board has the 'pins' which are fully open at the connector side (board lead connector to iCharger) would be covered.

It happend to me that a main lead dropped at the balance board and did hit these pins!
I covered it now with duck tape...

But maybe it is only me... being clumsy indeed?

I share your feelings about all the exposed pins on balance and parallel charge boards.
I used some very small ID and OD silicone tubing and put a piece over each one of the exposed, none used pins. I only use 3S, so I had a lot of pins to cover on the parallel board, but now there is no chance of inadvertent shorting.

A low profile snap on cover would be a nice. Not sure what to use. Using a blank male JST might make using the others difficult, but something is needed.

Since I noticed a lot of posts lately on how to recover an over discharged lipo, I thought I would post the method for recovering them.

It's pretty easily actually. All you need to do is get a NiMH charger, and set it to the approximate voltage to your lipo pack. (I.E. 7.2v for a 7.4v pack, or 12v for an 11.1v pack) Now, plug in your lipo, and set the charge current for ~1/3-1/2C charge rate (1/3c for a 1000 mah pack is .33 amps, 1/2C for a 1000 mah pack is 0.5 amps) and start the charge.

You only need to charge the lipo for a couple minutes to bring it back to the proper voltage for your lipo charger to recognise it, and charge it again. It is important that you keep a constant watch on the lipo while charging it with an NiMH charger!

If your lipo is still not recognised by your charger, then charge it a bit more on the NiMH charger.

Sometimes I think the new generation is becoming way too media dependent. Once someone asked me how to do something with a Lipo pack and charger. So I explained it to them, and they responded back if I could make a detailed video showing how it is done for them.

Back in my high scholl days to do research for class I often had to drive 15 miles to the main public library, use the dewy decimal index card system and find the books ,magazines , or micro film I needed and locate them all by myself. Today most expect someone else to treat them like they are the only pearson around with a question it seems.

I have stated for years that for the most part the Sticky Thread at the top of every forum are a waste of space. Most never see them much less use them. Everyone can use Goggle or other search engines to fing RC Groups Batteries and chargers but not the Beginners Forum, Power Systems, Radio, DIY Electronics ,etc. etc..

Same questions get asked day after day ,week after week and year after year.

Watch the News and ponder why the cities, counties, states, countries and corporations are in such a state of disarray.

IMO a lot of coulda, woulda, shoulda but sorry I did not know it was my job, task, duty.

Here's what I found, what I did, and it worked!

I changed the setting on my charger to NIMH and charged it for a few minutes at 1 amps till i got the voltage back up to about 10.5. I then ran it through my manual balancer and get the cells balanced. Then I charged it individually on my iCharger with standard balance-charge settings, 2.2 amps.

Thanks for your help!
