You will get about 210W/10A output from the charger using a Pb (12V) source which is more than enough to charge a 3S pack at 10A (3 x 3.85 x 10 = 115W). You only need 13.5V input to be able to get the full rated 250W output power.

Thanks, so there should be no problem.. I hope this holds for the 106B+ model as well, that is what I can buy from Hobbycity.

Yes will be no problem with what you describe and yes, the same applies for the 106B+.

Hi,
I have learned a lot on this forum about my icharger 1010b+,thanks a lot. It is V3.07 AAA version, and very good job.
To upgrading software, all on first page or on my CD is in chinese and my computer doesn' t reconize. For USB driver it' s OK, so how or where to find the download?

Downloads are available in the first post of this thread.

Max charge rate for 10S LiPo on a 1010B+ is approx 300/(10 x 3.85) = 7.8A which for a 4500 pack is 1.7C.

Hi,
again about upgrading software so sorry.
Can someone tell me the post or how to do cause I' ve got Vista, now cd rom OK but on iCcharger Upgrader ver 1.3 it's written device not found. I have tryed with first post link instead, and the same.
Charger connected or not for USB driver installation and the same.

Hi,

I am having trouble with my iCharger 106B+. It just started today. When I tried to charge my 3C lipos, it gave an error message "Battery Check Over Voltage". Help! I can't charge my batteries. No batteries, no flying!!!

PS. I just found out the problem. It's the solder joint of the dean plug. I'll fix it later

I am thinking of getting a 106b+, what size power supply do I need to take full advantage of this charger?

Also, I just read the manual for this and this seems almost similar to the Accucel line of chargers that HC sells. Any coincidence there?

Can someone verify for me that you can select the target voltages for charge and discharge or do they go in steps from 2s lipo, 3s lipo, 4s etc...

What I am wondering is can U say adjust the discharge volotage to 9.25 for example?

When charging, in what increments does the charge rate advance? Can I charge at 1850 mAh? Or is it 1.8a, 1,9a, 2a, etc...

Allowing for 80% efficiency in the charger and at least 20% headroom in the power supply we get 1.2 x 250/0.8 = 375W. You need at least 13.8V to get maximum output power so 13.8V/30A would be a good choice and 15V/25A would be more efficient.

I think a 20A version would be appreciated by many customers.

Kgfly nailed it on the power supply end, with one minor correction. The minimum input voltage for full power (250W on 106B+, 300W on 1010B+) is 13.5V. I might also be slightly less conservative in allowing for efficiency and headroom, efficiency is typically greater than 80% (85-90% in my calcs) and I would probably not allow quite as much headroom, maybe 10%. So, using 85% and 10% headroom gives me 323.5W, or ~325W.

Any resemblance to the Accucell charger line is purely coincidence. Accucell is made by Turnigy, with their 6S version only able to supply 50W. The iCharger is made by Jun-Si. The resemblance of the manual is undoubtedly a copy by Turnigy, with a large part of the iCharger manual having by written/edited by the one and only Kgfly above.

Target voltage (charge cut-off voltage) can be set by chemistry (LiPo, LiFe, LiIo, etc.) to a range of cell voltages. For example, I set some LiFe cells to cut-off at 3.65V/cell (vs. default 3.60V), so a 3S LiFe pack cuts off at 10.95V. See page 11 of the manual.

Discharge cut-off voltage can be entered for the entire pack for NiXX and for each cell on LiXX; i.e. cut-off NiMH pack at 7.0V or cut-off 2S LiPo pack at 3.50V/cell. These are handled slightly differently for discharge as LiXX packs can be monitored per cell while NiXX packs are treated as a single pack since they do not have individual balance connections to facilitate cell monitoring.

Charging rates can be entered to two decimal places in increments of .05A for low power charges, at a certain point it (1A?) it jumps to increments of .1A. If charging a 1850 mAh pack, 1.85A or 1.90A should have absolutely no consequence, that is 1C is not a "magic" number, merely a guide. Hope this helps!

I have a PS rated at 12vdc 30amps 450 watts. With no load it measures 12.2 vdc. Is the voltage too low to work efficiently for the 106B+?

Nope, not at all Bill. The charger operates very efficiently across a wide range of input voltages. You can expect slightly greater than 210W output, maybe even close to the max. rating. The "max. power output requiring >13.5V input" comes from the fact that the input is limited to 25A in, so for very high power charges a slightly higher input voltage is sometimes recommended to get enough power in.
