The last time this happened to me I went thermalling straight in front of the sun. Found the plane back in an open filed about 1 mile away.

What type of area were you flying in? With your cellphone number on it, and if the area wasn't too wooded, good chance that it will have come down unharmed if it was well balanced and someone will find it and phone you, may even tryo t refuse the little finders' fee which you will certainly give them.

Do not lose hope. Lost my EZ* once. With all the friends we've been looking for days to find it. Never found it....
7 Weeks later, someone called on the phone... "I found something wich I can't subscribe"... A broken EZ*. All the electronics were fine, unfortunately the camera was defect (Nikon coolpix). I still have the pictures that were on the sd card, and the electronics are even now doing fine. Even the lipo was intact, it disconnected during "landing/crash".

The EZ* could be repaired, and has flown a lot afterwards, with the same electronics. This EZ* now is retired, used as donor for some project...

That's a terrible feeling guy, I'm sorry it happened to you. I put my ez high in a tree on christmas day last year and it took a week to get it back. I hope you find it. Since you have your ID inside I'm sure you will. Good luck.

I feel your pain. I lost a $4500 AP helicopter in a lake last spring. We returned with scuba gear a week later and were able to locate and retrieve it. I now avoid flying long distances over open water. Hope it turns up!

Sorry to hear about your loss Guy, I do know what a sick feeling that can be.
Getting my Easy stuck in tree on Feb.22nd with my Aiptek A-HD still running
and sitting up there for 24hrs in below zero temps. And then after recovering it
taking it again and this time letting it get to far away to tell which way it was
turning and crashing into the ice and destroying both camera and plane. Easy
was fixable but the Aiptek was a loss.

Been nervous to fly ever since.

I lost my supercub a couple of weeks ago in a forested area. It was my 2nd flight. Too windy I guess. I thought I could bring it back and it kept getting further away. I have taken my gps unit out and tracked all the areas I have looked. See the attached air photo for all area that I have scoured. I have not given up as I go out every few days on snowshoes to have a look for it and exapnd my searc area.

For those that have lost your planes or Helis and found them do you find them where you thought they would be or do they tend to be further out than you expected.

BTW I went out and bought another Supercb and have about 10 successful flights with it.

I hope you find your plane. I keep saying to myself that the plane has a 4ft wingspan so it cannot be that hard to find.

I am so sorry Guy! I'll be praying for you to find it! I once lost my EZ glider (motorized) in the sun and it got away from me, in sort of a jet stream and I couldn't bring her back, With my friends, I found it 1 1/2 miles away. They are always a lot futher away than you think! So, expand your search way out and work in.

Pull out early!

Draw a line (on a map) showing the downwind direction that day.... then start searching a triangular area, widening as you get further away from your site. If you were that high up (to lose visual), I'd start my search probably a mile away from the launch site.

Sorry to hear of it - hopefully someone will find it.

Sorry for your loss Guy. It's an experience that nobody should go through, unfortunately it still happens. Look at the bright side of things, it's just a model aircraft that's easily replaceable, unlike a person.

Maybe the airplane had enough and defected on it's own... Wish it luck and move on.

Lost plane stinks!

I had mine up a tree for a few days about a mile from my house and didn't feel better until I got it down.

The whole time it was up there it felt like a part of me was missing, even though I knew where it was and could see it.

A flyaway would absolutely drive me nuts.

Hope you find it soon!
