Nutball #3

So Nutball #3 is finished! Oh wait, I remind my students all the time; "People are Done, Cakes & Planes are Finished!" Any way, Nutball #4 is built and is being painted. It is made of 6mm Depron instead of three like the first three, and is intended to fly outside. Not that being made of 3mm Depron has stopped any of the others from flying outside but this one isn't built for flying in the gym. Unless it can still handle that too...

The skulls are done with a background stencil in black. Then a candy purple is sprayed over the top. Because the candy is so transparent, it doesn't show much over the black but shows up on the uncovered white sections.

New gear fitted

After getting frustrated with the approximate control that Actuators provide I replaced the Microinvent Rx and actuators with an AR6400 from Horizon and for good measure swapped out the 7mm pager motor which really wasn't powerful enough for one out of the PZ sukhoi. This has put the weight up a bit Now 26.4g for a 10" model at least now I'm not struggling to get the CG forward enough.
Hope to test fly it outdoors next week if the wind drops but it's intended for indoor use in a single gym. Flew inside OK with the old set up but that was at 21gr.

Regards

Terry

Terry: Looks like a good upgrade, should be more fun. There's nothing more boring than a sluggish flyer. I'm just finishing up a 15 incher for indoor that should prove maximum fun.

I would think nothing less than a standard sport servo. You need a servo that puts out the power, but also has big enough gears for the loads.

Also, you can get the replacement gears with Hitec, which is a big negative with the cheap off brands.

Which Hitec should I use? Thx
