Looking forward to a maiden video. Love the smiley face and it reminds me of Forest Gump.

Taxi test done on both..

Happy with those results.

Off to the park in the morning I hope

It's getting frosty

Got 3x 500mah 2s batteries and 2x 3s the same size..

Should be enough to keep us busy..

How did the maiden go?

Hope it wasn't too cold - I must admit, I'm not a fan of Christchurch winters!

Late '70s - Opawa is just down the road from where I was (Phillipstown)

Unfortunately my planned trip back for this year's Warbirds over Wanaka was thwarted by the virus

Ok, this is probably a first for a Nutball.

I binned the 40" to make room for a 30" one and am in the process of adding a quadcopter subsystem.

The objective is to fly it using ArduPlane's "Quadplane" capability. A quadplane uses the four fans for vertical take offs and landings, and can transition to and from forward flight for flying long distances using the front motor. A unique aspect of a NB quadplane is that you can fit the four fans within the overall shape of the body.

Interestingly, after cutting out the four fan holes in the NB's body I thought that I may have removed too much area and it would not fly. A test flight without the fans installed showed that the perforated NB still flew! (Not as well as a normal one as it required more power to sustain flight and did not glide as well.)

Because it flew I had to continue with the project. I am about a week away from a test VTOL flight.

First hover test successful.

The next step is to take the machine out to a big field, climb really high in vertical flight mode, and then switch to forward flight mode and see what happens.
