looks nice but using a 30 size electrics mechanics on a 425mm bird is making it way heavy, and if the price mentioned by john from readyheli is close to real then it's way overpriced too

GAUI is pricing this at a commanding $699USD. (wow)

I am working with them to bring this to a more reasonable, and economical price point.
like i said way too heavy and way overpriced

yes, same head, same tail, same gears and same levers etc as the 550 with a shorter boom, belt and blades, and obviously a different frame and canopy.

What about using this frame for the 550 blades and tail?

Phil, interesting take you have on this.
I agree with you on the price thing but the rest of the stuff i feel is about right for a 425 heli, i always thought the head etc were light on for a 500 letalone a 550 heli.

Now we just have to wait on release and some real world reports.

oz the reasoning for my thinking on using the 550 mechanics on the 425 is the auw posted by tom, which iirc was about 1700-1800g, that puts it around and above the rex500 auw weight, also i suppose that because gaui got the 550 so light i was expecting the 425 to come in around about the lightest in it's class too, but that's not looking possible

anyway like you say we'll just have to wait and see

I think with lots of CF and aluminium its hard to be light. There is also a train of thought that the robustness of a machine need to be balanced with the weight.
I would rather carry more weight on a machine and have it tough than a light weight special that cant cope with abuse. From the pics above this looks tough.

I guess youīre right, I also think this is a bit heavy. I mean, itīs pretty mych the same weight as the 550, and spinning 425 blades? I have not flown mine yet, so I canīt really say anything, but its just my initial feeling. I guess the TREX500 people are reporting that weight is not a problem, and these birds are in the same league. The frame is shure sturdy so OZ has a point here.

This is with motor and ESC and blades, but no servos, gyro, lipo.

I donīt really know the prices yet, but the approx price I got is a bit high.I have not dared showing anyone the battery mounts yet. In my opinion, they could have done it better, but maybe Gaui will redesign these before they release it.

The biggest shortcomming of the 550 is the way the battery packs mount, i do hope they they have a nicer solution for this one.

What servos are the frame cutout for ? mini or full sized

Got to say I am a bit disapointed so far. I am a Gaui 550 fan not because it is the best heli but because it is the best Bang for Bucks. Unfortunately the 425 has not followed this path and as such probably wont get my hard earned. MSH is still on top of the 425 pile at this point but look forward to the flight reports.
