Any merchant is better than HobbyFly, these guys don't seem to have it all togoether - not to say absolutely careless and inattentive!
I speak from experience, as they do not deliver as promised - in fact they do not deliver at all ! I ordered some pusher props supposedly in stock on Dec 13th, 2007: first they sent (after 3 weeks delay and many phone calls) some tractor (puller) props which were returned to them for replacement with the proper parts and till today, after numerous unreplied e-mails and several phone calls they still have not done anything about the subject.

So I advise anyone connsidering buying from these guys to try buying from another source if they expect to receive their order!

My 2 cents : flies VERY scale ( not too fast ), handles well but ( as most EDF's ) consumes too much power for what it' s worth ....

here's our vid ... :

I intend to fly mine in the Original form for evaluation, but the goal is to fly her Indoors. Heavy items like the battery boxes, landing gear etc. will have to go, and instead of the stearable nose landing gear, I 'd rather use two aileron servos or even go for tailerons.

Removed the nose landing gear and the servo: a 22g weight saving.

Checked the servos from the kit. They draw a lot of current - compared to Hitec HS-55. If you "wiggle the sticks" with 4 servos (no linkages or load), you are already drawing close to 1A. 4 HS-55 under identical conditions are only 0.6A.

Checked the motor current as well. With the recommended 3s950 25C pack I measured the following max. figures: 9.92V - 24.48A (battery, ESC and motor are obviously running at their limits).

This is the Starmax F/A-18 re-badged by ROBBE. There are many threads here on RCG with much information on this bird. It is the best flying small edf on the market (in my opinion).

Jurgen - how do you like this edf?

The model is nice, but the aileron linkages are just awfull for precise piloting.

Here is a video of two F-18 flying Indoors:
