Building my A\P EZ* -- Updates

Got today the EZ STAR from the mail
all is ok and i need it for air videos and pic.
seems like a very small rudder plate .
Do i have to extend it ( the rudder ) as biger for better control
or as is to fly well

Guy, this is what did to my Easy Star rudder and elevator.
I did not trust the foam hinges they used by just compressing
the foam. I cut it out. Gorilla glued the smaller clevis pinned hinges
into foam that I cut slits and slid them in.They real solid now and
move far easier then the foam did.

Take a look in my blog how did it.

A lot of guys extended the rudder but the elevator seems to do the trick. I have extended the rudders on all my ez*'s. Looking forward to seeing pictures of you ez*. My friend, Randall1959 just put airlerons on his ez* and he said he loves it. Much more stable for taking pictures. He said he could control it much betterif there is a little wind.

Built and flown 2 EZ Stars (one for AP) and on both I made a new rudder from 1/4" balsa about 3 times the width of the stock foam rudder. Just cut a typical trapezoid rudder shape with a slant up (from leading to trailing edge) on the bottom to clear the elv. Use nylon strip hinges (3 ca glued).

Makes it turn when YOU want it to!

good luck

Rudder looks good enough, will give you better control.
I mounted my cam vertically; so it is centered. I just use Photo Shop to turn the pics around. You have far less drag that way, you are balanced laterally, and the cam would still look directly out over the nose.

Looking forward to the vid.

Great job and I am looking for a new Aerial plane. Question which engine did you use. I want to order a kit also. I just don't know what is the best engine and easy to get for aerial on this platform.
