Build Log

B-52 pusher

Well, another snow storm so I thought it was time for a new project a B-52H.
I downloaded superhornets plans and he is right, very quick build. I got this all done in one day!
I am trying to decide between a himax 2015-4200 or a wegard 2212-06 motor. They both weigh the same. I was really surprised. Any input on the motor would be appreciated.
All of the parts came of 2 sheets of depron. The hardest part will be the engines.

Ok, it is coming along really well. The slot for the wing was a little too short so I lengthen that. Now I have started on the engines. I'm thinking that maybe I should drill out the front of the engines to give them more of a scale appearance.
I thought about mounting the engines with magnets but I wouldn't be able to use the over the wing part of the pylon. The engines sit about 1 1/2" above the ground. I wonder if that will be enough?

None of my CF is long enough for the wing. So off the the LHS tomorrow. I like the way the CF strip looked vs CF rod so I will go with that again.

This is great! I haven't really seen a B-52 built before... especially out of foam. B-52s are cool so I'm watching.

It's 40" in length, and wing span of 45"
That stacker can really build a plane!
Great plans superhornet!

Some more work done today. Installed the CF Strips into the wing, attached the horz stab and mounted the wing. I also finished up on the engines. I also test fitted one on the wing. I was planning on gluing the pylon to the wing then use magnets to hold the engine to the pylon. I hope this is the best way.

agriebel ,

Looking good so far.
Are you going to put in a bomb bay door to drop things out of the sky....?

I had Nav lights on mine and flew it late at night & dropped glow sticks from hight up. ausume fun

I wasn't planning on a bomb drop or nav lights. I have a hard enough time flying during daylight hours.

I'm now test fitting the engines. Now if I can just figure out which motor to use.
choice 1
wegard 2212-06 outrunner with 6x4 prop

choice 2
himax 2015-4200 with 10x7 prop

weight is the same for both. I've used the wegard on other prop jets with good results but with those 8 engines hanging out there it is a lot of drag. Weight without paint or battery is 13.2 oz

Any suggestions?
