I have a Hobby Partz Monster 60 (discontinued) turning a 14x8 wooden prop on 6 cells. Perfect setup and performance. I wish I could shove an 8000mAh pack inside so I could stay up longer!

Those aerotow videos are convincing proof of ample performance. I think I'll go with the Hacker (Kv=410), the 14x8 and some 5000 mAh 6S packs. The motor should be pretty happy at around 700 watts max.

I just took delivery of my H9 Pawnee and I have to thank you all for the detail that you have provided in your responses; I'm planning to use a 60-size motor on 6S.

My grandfather worked on the Pawnee when he was with Piper Aircraft so I have some historical connection to the plane. It sure is a great looking model!

Nothing looks cooler then making a low pass over the field, you swear it was the real thing. My makes me smile very time I fly it. I have a power46 on 4S and flies very scale.
Cool about your grandfather working on the Pawnee. He must have some neat stories.

Infinite power

Here is the setup on my Pawnee. I fly with 6s 4000mah and get 10-12 minute flights with power to spare. You can pull straight up after a spraying run and hammerhead back down for another run with ease. This is the one plane that I have to fly every time I get the chance. I mounted a go pro and got forward and rearward facing videos that were awesome.

Tow release on Pawnee 40

Thought I'd share my solution for a tow release on my Hangar 9 Pawnee. I wanted to go with my traditional hoop-and-pull-pin type release, but I thought it would be cool to hide the pin inside the faux rotating beacon on the canopy. I came up with an arrangement that allows me to remove the canopy and pilot bust if I should ever have to access the release servo (JR DS821).

Works great! Can't wait to try it out after the maiden flight next weekend. BTW, my Pawnee is powered by the new Evo 10GX gasser engine, which should pull up any gliders of under four pounds or so. I built this project for a friend, but I almost wish I could build one for myself. Cool tow plane for light aerotow duty.
