Now the fun starts.

This is my first Hanger-9 and I am VERY impressed with the quality of the kit.

No handfull of wires for the landing gear.

It's all welded and painted.

First note:

Before you modify the standoffs length install the cowl and measure yourself.

I used the dimension in the manual and came up 1/4" short on the length.

Could you give me the dimensions of the battery area. I want to use A123 packs. Either 2 4s stick packs or 5s block packs.

I get the dimensions when I go out to the shop but you have plenty of room up to 8 cell 2 pack blocks.

I was thinking about a Scorpion 3032-12 with either 2 5-6s A123 or 2 5s 3000 mah lipos

Low wing Cub?

Looking at the photos the wing is not semi symetric; but more like a Cub.

This must be the way it uses the same set-up as the 1/5th Cub?

A freind flies his H9 pre-installed BL 46 Cub via A123-5S2P; sames as me in my old H9 Cub. EQC uses 10S2P.

Though I use less amps via a bigger prop via a 4130/16; the hoter BL 60 might be attractive here?

I was hoping for more aeros via a more dynamic wing.

Here's my set up which is already installed.

Turnigy 50-65C 400 (4130/16)
MAS 14x9x3
6S2P4600 A-123 or 7S2P4600 A-123's

We are trying hard to have a tornado here tonight so I'll start the build log with pix tomorrow.

My overall first impression is that the quality of this kit is top notch and NOT too heaverly built like some ARF I have had.

I hope all you gentleman, that will have this in hand in a day or two, will chime in and make this a build log for ALL of us.

The wing is definately "Cub like". Flat bottom.

You could take the wing from this guy and put it on any Cub in your hanger.

With a "Cub like" wing how would will handle the wind? We all most all ways have a afternoon wind. I am looking for a plane to fly in up to 10-20 mph winds. My biggest plane is a Pulse XT 40 (A123 powered of course) which can handle light winds. It tends to float around on windy landing. I also have a E-flite At-6 but I have yet to fly it, hopefully this weekend if doesn't rain.

Think this too will be a bit of a floater.

21oz/sf with 6 cell 2 pack A-123.

You will have the room so you could always add a 3rd pack for ballest and drive up the wing loading.

I've flown my Cubs in some pretty good winds; you need to be quite comfortable with them before doing it though.
