Potensky Cobra

I'm building a Potensky Cobra. It is an indoor/outdoor 3D EPP foam acrobat.

Are there any European E-Zoners flying one?

Potensky are making nice models!

Greg, could you please check the empty weight?! would be helpful!

if AUW <300g, maybe a GWS 4.8v dual motor on 2x1020mah kokam would be a good choice

Steve,

They will be available in the US soon.

Henke,

Thanks for the links. I'll measure the empty weight before mounting the motor. It comes with a geared 5:1 Speed 300 motor and 10" folding prop with ESC all built up already.

I have seen it hover on this setup using a 7-cell, 720mAh, NiMH pack. Since the instructions leave the battery selection and placement in a custom cut belly hole up to the builder, I am seriously thinking of using a 2-cell LiPoly pack.

Regards.

My guess would be Hobby Lobby, and that Greg is doing an Ezone review of it. At a speed 300 that seems a bit large for indoor. But, maybe so.

This is great

I think that i may get one of these as my first aileron ship

I want to get a SB but this may be a good intermediate step (EPP), and for 35 (sans motor) it must be good value for money

I think that flitehook have Potenskys stuff

It looks like I got the optional float set also. A pretty cute and versatile design. The EPP fuselage and symetrical wing make it easy to bury the carbon rods and wires.

That is one sleek plane

Do you think that it would be suitable as a first aileron ship?

How much did you get yours for Greg?

Do you think that Potensky will ship to the UK (its in europe )

Thanks

Hi Josh,

I'm not sure of the price yet since it is a review model...just as Gordon guessed. If Potensky doesn't ship to the UK then Hobby Lobby will.

Originally, I thought that you needed to cut a slot for the battery pack but I found the pre-cut battery slot on the right side of the fuselage and it looks perfectly cut for a 2-cell 950mAh or 1020mAh LiPoly pack. This will reduce the weight by 1.6oz over the 7-cell, 720mAh, AAA, NiMH pack.

My initial guesstimate is an all up weight of about 9oz RTF.

Yep

9oz with a Speed 300 is UP

This thing should prop hang like a charm

I am gonna have to get one.......when i sell my rc car and boat

Potensky should (how is their english.....do you think that i can email them)

When you do a review model......do you get it free....and have to kit it out?

If so do you get to keep it after?

Thanks

Sort of off topic, but if you are on the Potensky web site, check out their Fokker D-VII. They don't kit that plane, but it is very well done.

in belgium it is for sale by www.flylab.be
the price is about 100 euro
included are all the epp parts (off course)
motor and propellor and a motor controller.
I m looking to get or the cobra or the eagle but I m still in doubt
Flylab (the shop) recommends the eagle for indoor and a bit more relaxed flying.
Do you know what kokams would be needed to power this model? (off topic sry)

Gordon,

LOL! I should have guessed that the Fokker D-VII would get your attention!

Nice color photo, by the way, in the latest Backyard Flyer magazine.

anatak,

A 2-cell 900-1020mAh LiPoly pack would work well in the Potensky Eagle.

Greg,

The D-VII has been on their site for quite a while. In fact, I looked at it now and then as I built mine it is so good. Glad you liked the color version. I sent them a 4-megapixel file for it, so was hoping it would come out nice. My copy has not come in the mail yet so I haven't seen it.
