Pat Tritle's New Curtiss Pusher

Pat Tritle, Pat's Custom Models, sent me some pics of his new Curtiss Pusher which he will offering as a kit in the near future. Pat has fallen off E-Zone and can't get back up He asked me to post the attached pictures and said that E-Zoners can get more info of the CP at :

Pat also working on a "Langley Aerodrome", you know the steam powered
aeroplane with wings in the front and the back that launched off a barge in river and nearly drowned Langley's servant. Pat says he's got the glider version flying well but he'll have to simulate the steam engine and use E-power. Don't know about plans for kitting this one. BTW, Pat couldn't find any instrument panel details for the Eastbourne Monoplane either.

That last one was right after it took off. I was there for the first flight. It sure was a nicely detailed ship!

More on Curtiss Pusher Project

Sez Pat:

"The Curtiss is being done for a MAN mag construction article. Also plan to offer a laser cut short kit for those who are not into cutting upwards of 60 wing ribs. The spoked wheels and a plastic engine kit will also be availabe as well as a CD with 50 some odd photos of the full scale airplane that I took at our local airport."

E-mail Pat for further infomation at

Curtiss Pusher Kit Specs

Per Pat this AM:

The Curtis spans 43.75", 54.6" including the ailerons, with a wing area of 621 sq in.. Length is 43.5 and flying weight is 25.3 oz. That puts the wing loading under 6 oz/aq ft. Power is a 4:1 S-400 with an 11-7 APC Slow Fly prop on 7 800 cells. Radio is 4 channel (rud elev ail throt) using 4 servos and a 20A ESC w/BEC. All the controls are cabled up, and the ailerons even make the seat move. Cover is silk and dope, the tail booms are carbon fiber tubes, and there's lots of bamboo fondu sticks and toothpicks in various places on the model.
Model Airplane News will run the construction article as soon as I finish it up, and there will be laser cut parts, spoke wheels, scale engine kit and a CD containing 52 detail photos of the full scale airplane available to compliment the plans.
I sent a couple photos over yesterday, you can send those along with tis info if you want.
Thanks again for all your help. PAT

PS I started the R/C Langley plans this morning. The Concept glider model is really stable that an R/C model is bound to work. photo attached

I'd like to know about the silk covering. The LHS has silk, and fine looking material it is, but it's prohibitively expensive, especially when you calculate the cost of dope and dope thinner. Is there a reasonably priced source of modeling silk and dope for that matter?
