that looks like a fun boat.
I'd love to, but my local lake is restricted to electric:

The super vee is ok but limited it needs smooth water and doesnt handle the speed it can achieve all that well - the BJ cat can run hard and is very stable in a straightline - at 50 mph I dont think the SV would be on the water - once setup alittle the BJ cat is rock solid. The flex shaft and uni arent too bad and you wont loose a prop if the shaft does break and if it does its a great excuse to replace it and add a ruder or change to say a solinger hardware set The BJ cat can be setup to corner very well. It costs more over time but its the best $value speed available, will teach you a heap about baots and eats SV27s

Great information. Thank you! I'll be running it a lot on Norris Lake too in Tennessee. That's near my Dad's house. You can see in the photo below the kind of water surface it is. I was thinking the BlackJack might do a little better on that. We were sailing our Victor V32 sailboats on Norris Lake that day...

Where do you get the upgraded hardware for the BlackJack that you mentioned?

www.fastelectrics.com or email me at andrew@fastelectrics.com. The hardware is a wire drive connector and Solinger hardware kit.

regards

I visited the site. Excellent stuff. Man, the sharing of information on this website is amazing. 10 years ago, I'd only have magazines to hope to find answers in or my LHS.

Thanks Andrew!

a supervee would do well on that water, too it's all in how you trim it, then how you drive it. the blackjack takes a little care as well, especially if there are little waves about. if the left side comes up, steer right and vice versa. otherwise, it flips over. if there isn't flotation up front already make sure you put some in there.

I wound up getting a Supervee 27. There's three others in my small town that have them and so we are racing locally. Made sense to go the "one design" approach.

I bought a white one, and rather than airbrush mine like I'd planned, I used Monokote trim sheets to come up with some good graphics. I can change the graphics later that way.

I'm running with two 4200ma NiMH packs. She flies!!!!!

Photo below is with my Mini Rio. Modified graphics on it too.

There is in the factory model. BUT, there is not for the top hatch! I found that a little foam carved to fit and epoxied in place solved that. If you are running in a lake, you will lose the top at some point. Put foam in and you won't! This didn't happen to me, but it did to my buddy's boat.
