+1

Coming in under those power lines must be nice and tricky.

Hand-catch at the end was a bonus

One day, I hope to be able to do that...

hi all,

have been a mad keen sloper for awhile now (with a strange fetish of cutting WR bee's into odd faster shapes) and after a year and a half working in the solomon islands am ready to get back to the slopes with another modified bee, CS aeramacchi and another "fleagle" on the building bench. have recently settled in sydney so am looking for sites and local gatherings.

so who's about and where

Havn't seen/ heard you for a while BJ. Have you been in hiding? It'll be punchbowl season again soon so you can brush up on those ds skills. Now get those foamies finished!

I'm still around, Josh. Read this and the DS thread every day. Not really much happening here to report on.

Finally painted the JW to a level where I thought f*ck-it, just finish the darn thing and go fly it. So I'm laminating the wings as we speak. Then it's control surfaces on and fuze back on and I should be good to go.

By the way, what is the black stuff on those fuzes? Looks like extra thick film of some sort - and mines bare-bones naked now, so I need to cover it with whatever that gear was that was on it before.

Managed to repair the Speedo wing that egg-shelled on me down at Killy - just got to iron on some new white film and that one should be good to go too.

Nearly there on the Aure as well - but that's strictly a front-side graceful lady I think. Too lightly built to take heavy winds or a decent whack during one of my 3-point landings

As far as 'brushing up on my DS skills goes' - I don't have anything to brush up on yet. Still a n00bie hack in that department. But there's only one way to learn, and that's come down to Punchbowl (or maybe Crystal's?) and start turning some laps - even if it's only with the Bee at reduced speed to get the hang of it as some of you have already suggested. And, of course, the JayDub.

And all I need to get the M60 going again is a set of Eneloops and an Rx. Might just leave the film the way it is, get someone to help me set up that touchy CG, and give that a whirl too.

Cya on the Slopes somewhere - maybe Killy tomorrow/Sunday?

Can you DS it??

Most go-fast JW fuses are done by wrapping 5 layers of bi-directional tape over the foam and then painting it with as many layers of thick goop as you can handle. It's a messy, painful business, but if it's done well it's very worthwhile.

You might want to take a shovel 'cos somebody has left a trailer load of earth or mud on the NW / S slope parking area.

Any ideas who leaves the N slope gate open ?

That was some of the best wind and lift I've flown in at Woody Point. Very short fly as we only got there around 5:15 and it got dark. Rhys flew his Scratchobuck and I have to say, that boy can really fly. He totally carved it up, and did 2 of the best landings ever. Not at all easy down there - small spot, trees, power lines etc. Berndt came down for a look too. I flew the repaired vac bagged Scratcho and had a ball. Did 7 loops in a row. Pumps across the car park. Fantastic fun.
