Pronto

There were several models of the Pronto by Tidewater. I have a Pronto Pup. Let me know if that is the one you are looking for and I'll try to dig up the plans

Frank,

I just bought a set of the Pronto plans over the weekend at a swap shop.

The ones I have are from Model Airplane News from around 1971 - designer is Dave Robelen.

Let me know if you are interested in a copy.

Does anyone have plans for the Parakeet?

I heard it is a great model as well.

Pronto Plane

Funny how things seem to come together - as though influenced by some mysterious cosmic communications link? Fact is that I tried to sell a complete, totally ready to fly Pronto at the Burlington, NC swap meet last weekend. I offered to sell it with the Veco .19 and gold-stickered Expert radio complete with servos, batteries, and charger - truly ready to fly with the addition of fuel and battery charge - all for $25!

Nobody was interested. Only three channels? Will it really fly?!

I had purchased it a few months earlier at the swap meet in Winston out of a strong nostalgic urge since it was a design I had built and flown happily several years ago.

So I took it hoome, plugged in the charger, and flew it at the two clubs where I'm a member. It was just like the old days. Well after a half-dozen flights I decided that I had gotten my money's worth out of it and thought to give someone else a chance at the next swap meet. (Frankly, running that engine was as much fun as flying the airplane. Those old ringed engines run great - forever. Who needs that steenkin' chrome?)

So, since I couldn't (in effect) give it away I decided to strip out the engine and radio, eventually offer the radio on the 'bay or somewhere - but that engine will stay with me.

The problem is that I wasn't too gentle with removing the innards and what's left isn't worth the effort and cost it would take to get it to someone who would appreciate her. (She will go to the recycle place the next time I make a trip. What a shame.)

So the reason I'm poking these keys is to let you know that it is a very good design that has weathered the decades well, is appreciated by at least one other fan, and can still provide a lot of flying pleasure. I hope you have success with your project.

I had Pronto back in the 70's powered by an OS .15. Figure 8s a foot off the deck were a blast.

Tim,

Yes, PM me your mailing address and I will get a copy to you.

I am sending out a set of plans tomorrow and should have a good cost estimate for copying+shipping expenses.

Brian
