Need LARGE electric model advice
Looking for a larger heli model. Doesn't need to do 3D. Low and slow is all I can see. Looked at the Viper 90, Trex 600, Logo 600 and the Swift 620. Since the Swift 620 is vaporware for now, what model would be a good choice for the BIG one. I have a Swift 16 now, so reusing some parts from that would be a plus.

You could go for an Eco 16.
I fly mine with a really slow headspeed in a scale-like manner, it's a sweet heli. |

For quality go with the Logo 600, for cost go with the Trex 600. Eco 8/16 is old technology and not a very strong designed heli. No comments on Century products.
When you refer to BIG I think you mean 600mm blade helis not 700-800+mm BIG helis. |

You could stretch a Swift, add the 620 belt/boom.

Thanks,
Will look into Thunder Tiger, thought they only made nitro/gassers. They seem to have some scale bodies out there, too. I wonder if the scale bodies would work on the E models? When I said LARGE I meant anything over 600. I need something big so I can get a good view of it. Price is a consideration but not the main one. I'm a DINK guy so I have a few dollars to spend |

did more searches on the TT e550/620. found a good thread from last year. It reminded me to describe what I need a little better. Looking for a BIG model. Except for peformance, the blades don't have to be the biggest/hottest. Smaller blades on a bigger model will be fine as long as the model is controlable. Looking at AMA1/2 and FAI (maybe).

Call CENTURY, it shows in stock.
You need parts; CNE631 belt and CNE632 boom and slide the servo down is all. FB |

RC Man,
thanks for the links. Saw some other stuff on that forum that looked good too. I think a semi-scale body on a bigger model is what I am looking for. Maybe just stretch my Swift and get a body for it? Fred, any suggestions on an easy to fit fuse.? |

I was patient and got one on Ebay new in the box for $143 (Retails around $189). One or two recommended upgrades (autohub, tail slider) and you're hauling the mail with smaller batteries & motor than most 1-meter (42") rotors require. Certainly a lot less than some of the large helis specifically designed for 3D. Which translates to much lower costs. The Ikarus models are well-known for their stability, good manners & ease to fly, which I believe the OP stated he was looking for. I might add that the Eco 8's were all CCPM, you just had the option for mechanical OR electronic mixing. |
