I need one of these to haul up my Space Shuttle Challenger 1/42 scale. This just about fits the bill, just needs a bit of tweeking. 4 380's with 5" props and taller gear should do the trick. Maybe I will even build molds and just form it. Plans in hand and I am ready! Currently I release the shuttle from a Sig Senior Kadet, just does not seem right to use this combo though!

Found it by reading through the posts 180mm from the trailing edge of the wing center section.

I have started cutting the plywood fuse crutch, tracing the fuse formers and wing ribs. Have also decided to go with a non scale undercarriage using 3 1/8" wire nose gear with 2" light foam wheels. Our field is grass and I might stand a chance of taking off from it with this set up. The nose gear units will provide more shock absorbing action. Should have this bird ready by early spring.

Hello, my name is Dominykas, i am from Lithuania.
I am making this cool Boeing 747 and i've got 3 questions:
1. How to install front steering wheel with servo?
2.How to connect 2 elevators to 1 servo?
3. Can i use 2x 64mm EDFs like

You can Y the Pushrod to go from 1 servo to 2 elevators or run 2 sleeved pushrods from one larger servo.

This is how many small jets run their elevator servo.

My Build

Hi guys and gals,

i've been following this thread for a few months now wanting to start my own build. I've had some 70mm fans laying around for a while now. they came with hobbyking models and weren't quite powerful enough as a single, but i think will perform well in this quad setup.

I'm just starting out to become a L/AME, so the livery will be whoever employs me (or the QANTAS "City of Longreach" 747-400 if i get picked up by a company not operating the jumbo)

a few notable changes i'll be making

-150% size to utilise 70mm fans
-plane will have 4 functional engines and run on 4S (perhaps a switch to select between 2 and 4 engines)
-modified fuselage formers as per earlier posts
-the plane will be made/transported in 4 sections
++++the empenage will be removable
++++the wing sections outboard of engines 2 & 3 will be removable
++++the middle fuselage, nose, and central section of the wing will be a single piece
-i'll be moving/modifying the W2 and W3 formers to coincide with the engine mount pillar to simplify inner wing workings
-slotted fowler flaps (to be determined)
-18 wheel landing gear with gear doors
-4mm marine ply will replace the specified 3mm ply, for extra rigidity
- all spars and wing formers will be ply

one thing i noticed, i dont agree with the wing spar drawn at the bottom of SHEET 2. it travels close to the trailing edge at the wing root. i think it seems to tall, but i could be wrong

My 747 flew last night using two 3400kv motors and 5.5" props. This set up blew through (2) 2.2 amp 3s batteries in 3 minutes. One battery for each motor. Flew fine with plenty of speed with this set up. Nice gentle flight characteristics with the CG about 40% of wing cord. Our flying field is grass so ground clearance was the real issue. I am considering switching to EDF units to help with ground clearance. Power system as is is overworked.
