I want to thank all you guys that went to AEF. What a great time. I have a bunch of pics that I will start posting tonight.
How 'bout that noon time demo? 6 Riewings tearing it up! My crash was a testimonial to how well CK's builds are. That Demon went in at close to 160 and it didn't even break the main spar. A big thaks to Charger, who sent me an email that the wing is repaired and will be shipped back to me. I left it for dead! Thanks Paul, Atom, CK, Charger, Mark Wood, Tim and Randy from Dynamo. |

Whew! Fun, huh?
What a weekend! That noon demo was a ball and everyone enjoyed it as much as we did. The coolest thing about the weekend? I took home the new blue camo SkyVac (#3 of 4) that was hanging from the Lab ceiling. Randy made me a smokin' deal on a Wemo 90mm fan for it and all I gotta do is get a good motor to spin it on 6s. Planning on ~1400 watts and 120mph. Works for me! Good seeing you guys. We'll do it again soon! mw |

Adam, I just paid my pilots fees and hotel reservations for SEFF which I will have the Lightning built and ready to fly down there. I finally start therapy WEDs. I hope it loosens me up to bend over where I can build it. I had emailed CK a couple of weeks ago about whats happening with the build and my back. I have built a few planes in bed, but the Lightning with 3m and henry's cloth wont be one of them! lol. Dave

The Southeast Electric
Flight Festival May 1-4, 2008 Americus, GA The Fayette Flyers of Atlanta, Georgia are pleased to announce America's premiere electric flight festival. Our host field will be at Mac Hodges' field. This field features a flat 1,700 ft. bermuda grass runway and wide open skies. Pit area and parking are abundant for all. Additionally, Mac's field features a full service, air conditioned hobby shop right off the flight line. You should expect to see all aspects of electric flight: sport planes, hotliners, parkflyers, 3D, giant scale, slowflyers, gliders, pylon, ducted fan jets, helicopters, scale, F5B etc. This event is primarily open flying. There will be some flying demonstrations by accomplished e-flight enthusiasts / sponsors and show teams. Vendors will be exhibiting their products, conducting demo flights and releasing new models. Primary Sponsors of the Premiere Electric Flight Festival A very special thanks to Horizon Hobby, JR and Quiet Flyer Magazine for their support of our fun fly. Horizon Hobby and JR have agreed to sponsor SEFF thru the year 2008. When: May 1-4 , 2008 (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday) Flying from sunrise to dark and beyond if you have lights Where: Hodges Hobbies Field 428 Neil Hodges Rd. Andersonville, GA 31711 Click here for directions Events: Open flying / vendors / accomplished modeler and manufacturer demo pilots including Team JR and many others. Limited Motor Run Competitions and F5B starting Thursday morning. Sport Sailplane and Class B will take place from 9 am to 3 pm on Thursday. Open flying begins at 3pm. There's no additional cost to participate in the LMR or F5B contests as a registered pilot for the fun fly. Click here for the rules. 4th Annual "SEFF Texas Hold'em Championship of The Universe" will take place on Friday evening at 7 pm. and is being coordinated by Dave Thacker from Radical RC. You must enter at the Radical RC booth on Friday morning. Space is limited to the first 32 entrants. The buy-in is $20 per person for $3000 in chips. The game will be 5 card Texas Hold'em and will be run tournament style. We will start with 4 tables..the top finishers will take the pot. New Special Events Hobby Lobby Air Drop during noon demo on Friday and Saturday. Friday is RC toys for pilots. Saturday is a candy drop for the kids.(not sure if HL is going to do this in 2008) Awards: There will be two awards at SEFF. The awards are as follows: Best New Product Released at SEFF Best of Show Please see details here for these categories. How Much: Pilot Registration is $25 for one to four days. Add $5 late entry fee if you register at the event. RV Parking is $20 for the weekend. (see details in the camping section below) Spectator admission is $3 / day Spectators that would like to register for a T-shirt and BBQ dinner may do so by using the pilot registration forms. There are no refunds given for any part of registration. No exceptions. Pre Registration: You may click here to pre register online with our partners at Atlanta Hobby. It only takes about 30 seconds. Changes for 2008: We will double the number of porta potties and have them serviced daily. We are tweaking our Thursday schedule: We will create one area on the flying site to allow spread spectrum controlled parkflyer aircraft to fly during the Thursday LMR contest. This area will be placed as far away from the gliders' flight path as possible and will be limited in size. The goal is to allow the early attenders to get some form of flying in during Thursday. At 3pm, open flying will commence for all aircraft types. Flightline: Parkflyers will be show center. 3D on west end / sportplanes remain at east end We will add a helicopter area and the far west end of the field beyond the 3D area we will add a few more parkflyer pilot stations the sportplane area will be in the same place as usual, however, we will move the pilot stations further away from the pit area so that the pilots have a smoother runway We will probably have a few more flightline bosses as that worked well this past year. There will be no Tx impound as spread spectrum as pretty much eliminated the need to do this with the few older technology transmitters that will be there. We will still use the frequency pager system as a frequency board. We will offer to pay the BBQ team more to ensure that they do not run out of any food. There will be a $20 RV parking fee if your RV is not parked in one of the reserved spots thru Hodges Hobbies. (See camping details below for all the details) We are going to double the quantity of SEFF beer brewed. We will be increasing the bottled beer from 20 gallons to 30 gallons. The beer is complimentary and no purchase is required to get any. It is not part of the menu during the BBQ dinner. Pilots at the BBQ dinner get first priority for the collectors edition of the bottled beer. We will also have 10 gallons in kegs for non pilots and "refills". Saturday night BBQ dinner: Well, you know Southern Hospitality isn't complete without throwing a BBQ. Around 6:30 we will be serving the South's finest BBQ dinner. The cost per person is $10 and tickets can be purchased on the online registration form. You must purchase your tickets in advance so that we know how much food to have available.
