Zpower motors available as Tonic-X through Helidirect

A friend of mine sent me this link.

http://www.helidirect.com/index.php?cPath=44_386

Hopefully they will be easier to order in the USA now. It appears that the only difference is the name Tonic-X. We will have to see how the QC works out.

Thunder Tiger (ACE) and Century has them to. TT has more but I know Century has the sizes we want in stock

Gary still shows a few in stock to.

The Tonic-X motors are the newer "A" cores. Century has those too. TT/Ace and some others still have the older less efficient cores. I wish HeliDirect had them back in October when I needed a new motor. I've got the older one installed now and I don't like it as much as the new "A" models.

here is what the bottom of my eRappy looked like after the Z50T-600 stator slipped a little bit and shorted two of the leads out. Caused the esc to torch!

I wonder if Z Power has fixed the stator slipping issue. Gluing the stator to the central shaft is asking for trouble just like gluing the rotor to shaft of an inrunner is.

I've had both fail. Three times on different Neus and a Z motor just like cptsnoopy but without the fire works fortunately, and also an AXI.

The Scorpion's stator has a keyway that mechanically locks the stator plates to the central post so this can not happen.

It's something that needs to be done with heli motors for maximum durability.

Oz, as far as I know the Z70s are still vaporware.

ahh i thought you meant popup spam

albig do scorpion actually put anything down that little slot in the production motors? as they don't in the kits. most all stators i have worked with have these "keyways" but no manufaturers i know actually use anything to utilise them. i just checked my newly purchased Z30 and as they have clarted epoxy round the top of the stator where the bearing tube is i can't see if they have anything there to stop the slipping, though now i'm going to have to clean it all off to check as the last thing i want is a slipping stator!

here is a picture from dr ralph's powercroco site showing how he fixes the stator, i recently started to use this method too

To tell the truth Phil I haven't looked at my own motor.

I assumed they locked it somehow since I saw the keyway on a picture of one of the kits.

I guess I'll open it and look to see. If not that's a good fix you posted

You'd think if these guys went to the trouble to make the dies with a slot for key they'd use something
