I finally finished tuning and adjusting my Rf amplifier. I needed to order new slugs for the Bird to measure accurately, but it was worth it. Attached are some pics. With a MFJ 6m dipole, I am usually less then 1.5 SWR (it depends on location) and I am getting almost 25W max out!

What type of range can you get? What could you get with the stock setup?

I did a preliminary test where I am getting >6 miles on the ground. I can only imagine in the air the distance will increase exponentially. I will start another post when I do actual flight testing.

I take it you are running on 50-54 and not 72??

Since the module itself is branded as 50-54.

PS:

For those out there Mitsubishi makes a nice set of RF amps for 68-88MHz.

7W out with ~30mw in and also a 30W unit same freq range. H46 footprints,
and microstrip ins and outs. Small package and increased range for all.

Just layout a board, solder and fly......damn far.

And yes IT DOES WORK!! I am so glad I became an engineer!!! MUUUUWQAAAA ha ha.
