Cool
The Official Blade 400 Thread - Questions - Support - all you need to know!
Well Since we have alot of people starting new threads regarding the blade 400 I thought I would start a thread for all the question and comments on this heli.
I dont have one but for the price I might just add one to my fleet |

Great idea...hope everyone takes to it (posting in this thread that is).
I picked one up a few days back. One of the best little beasts I have flown yet...very nice package for the price...now lets get a whole bunch in the air and start modifying em! Curt |

Well, I have (finally) managed to crash my b400 into mother earth. this is my 1st heli -- 3rd flight out all was going well, until I decided to try & circle around myself. BIG MISTAKE! -- I guess I was not ready for this move -- heli got far away from me real quick, in my haste to return, overcorrected tail, then misorientation (partly due to sun glare), before I knew it heli is going straight down nosefirst from about 20 feet up, and maybe 150 feet away. BAM! Now i gotta go shopping for parts, which includes:
main rotor blades spindle shaft main shaft shaft bearing landing gear skid canopy and canopy mount rod (the crash shattered the stock canopy) servo gears (2 servos?) various screws/hardware Amazingly, the head assembly seems to have escaped unscathed for the most part -- only the spindle and main shaft (and blades of course) appears to have been damaged in the head. Question: How can you tell if a servo gear set needs replacing? I know for sure one of my aileron servo gears is stripped -- after the crash, one of the aileron servos didn't stop its motor after full travel in one direction. The other aileron servo moves OK with the radio, but when I move the servo horn by hand, I can feel it "skipping" periodically. Should I just replace all the servo gears? One good thing about this crash is it now forces me to disassemble part of the heli (and hopefully learn more about how things work) -- when I first got the 400 I was sort of nervous about touching anything on it. Now its like -- give me that screwdriver! I guess sort of like after getting your first ding on a new car. |

Question: What's the best you can do with the stock gyro and tail servo? How best to tweak it, what kind of performance can be expected?
Question: If you replace only the stock tail servo with one capable of handling the gyro in digital mode, is that a good improvement? Is it worth doing that before buying a replacement gyro, to see if it's "enough?" Question: How do the economics work out versus buying a T-Rex, if you factor in the upgrade price of a new gyro & tail servo? Question: Considering the plastic head & other parts of the B400, compared to the aluminum & CF in the T-Rex SE V2, is the B400 going to be cheaper to repair, on a crash-by-crash basis? Question: Once the DX6i becomes readily available with good pricing, and maybe a few start hitting the market when DX7 owners buy B400's, how does it stack up to DX7? For instance: suppose I'm sure I don't need 7 channels or more than 10 models. Is the DX6i as good right there? And is the roller control a (big) relative feature improvement over the DX7? |

Could I replace the STock Gyro with a Telebee Zoom or Zoom Sub-Micro HH Gyro and still use the Stock Tail Servo?
Which Gyro would be better, the Zoom or Zoom Sub-Micro? |

AFAIK, there's no difference between the two Telebees other than the weight. |

I've seen a few of 400's flown by Newbies. Two hovered good and two had issues and were hard to keep up with, they where all over the place. It looked like bad servos, but turned out to be very tight ball links that would not let the servos get back to neutral on it's own. After re-sizing the links, hovering was good.
It sounds like Factory Test Flown means, if it got off the ground and back down without breaking it, ship-it!!! Wally |

My definition of Newbies: Someone that can hover a Honeybee FP without crashing and wants to move up, THAT'S ME.
My plan, is to master the 400 and move up to the 500, skipping the 450 altogether. Wally |
