I know where you're talking about. Maybe I can catch up with you sometime. It's funny, I can spot an open space at a glance now. I call them auxilary fields. The most fun is flying at Buckroe Beach or at the beach on Ft. Monroe (a best kep secret). If the winds are low, great. But if they're blowing, I just wind surf. And the F-22 airframe is one of the best for wind surfing.

battery:

Servos are 2 GWS 6 g servos.
I am using a 5*3 GWS prop on my setup and have the ailerons coupled with the elevons. The motor draws 11 A WOT. Yesterday I flew one battery to the limit. Flying time was 14 min with mixed throttle. I now have my time set to 12 min to not drain the lipo too much!

If anyone is interested in a simple solution on how to do this, I can post some pics of my setup.
Rolf

What size WS is the set-up you listed for? Please PM me as I am not online for very long each day. Thanks!

well I read most every post from beginning to end, took me about 3 days but well worth watching the evolution of such a cool plane.

Mine could be here as early as tomorrow, fingers crossed, so I will get to start the build soon.

Love the look of jets and the simplicity of this little guy. The F22 is my favorite jet to fly on the sim so naturally I had to get a "real" one. Now, can I get one that will do STOVL?

Flew mine inside the AMA Expo flight demo area today. Pretty tight space, but still managed a good flight.

I only hit the wall once, the barrier net once, almost hit one of the pilots, and hit the floor 5 or 6 times.

She took some abuse, even broke the nose off, but she's back together and ready for more flying tomorrow.

Here's the AMA thread with the video of Pats demo flight on post #12
https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1805873

Here's the video ... Sorry you got me to laugh at your admirable effort to fly in that tight area Pat...
Pat even said although the room looked large enough it grew small quickly with a mini parkjet in the air.. Good job tho Pat

Hey Pat,

I still have one out of Grey 6mm depron. To see it up close, you'd think it was a Frankenstien creation. Can't say how many time the snout has been glued back on. It's to the point 360mAh 3S batts will balance her. . But still will high alpha with the best of them. . It's my front yard flier.

Here's a video of the plane we all know and love .From this week-ends AMA show . It's a copy from the PDF file outta FFF and depron . Flown by my son and made by me . What makes this video so neat to me is . With all the cool stuff being demoed and flown after I tell the announcer what it is he takes the ball and runs with it . Telling the crowd all about the special thrill of scratch building with foam ... I think a tear came to my eye.
