This is what happened to my DCH2 Beaver on its Maiden. CofG was perfect, motor thrust was fine (down & right), wing flap was a tiny bit warped but not so much that it should do this. Later inspection revealed two tiny pin holes in the left float which I think filled up with so much water that it caused it to lurch to the left. Not even full right aileron would right it. Anyway enjoy my misfortune and stay tuned for the next maiden.

What a great place to maiden...even though it went bad...it looked good....You will make it next time! I bet the swim was a warm one!

Aww man. Not the dreaded "swim" of shame. Been there, doin the same with it.In a leaky kayak though.

Good save btw. It couldve been much worse.Keep at it. She's a beauty floatin past ya.

You need more prop and 500w+. I would shoot for 550-600w or so.

I would probably be OKwith 400 minimum for this style of plane and no floats.

BUT I was more concerned that this is a brand new motor. First run out of the box. Is it performing to specs. Do I have poor ESC settings or a bum motor?

It has been a while since I have run a power 25 - but remember running a larger prop on it.

I suspect all is fine - but someone with the power 25 will chime in here...

I think you may find it difficult to fly this pane with 288 watts. It may fly but it will be very marginal on power with NO reserves for those times when you need more power. I run a 4S battery with a 13 x 8 prop and produce 490 watts with my Turnigy 42-50 700kv motor. I don't use all the power I have available but it is there if I need it. She flies very good at about half throttle which means I am not pushing the motor, ESC or battery very hard.

You should be getting a little less than double that wattage. Check your battery's charge, and verify your controller settings are set for a 3S cutoff voltage.

verified controller settings. Tried 2 other batteries' within 20 watts. I have a power 32 which I have swapped in. I hope to test with same batteries and also 4s. This may shed some light on the health of the motor.
Both 25 & 32 are new. 32 was out of stock when I bought the 25 for the Beaver.

I am a slow builder. I'd say. 3 evenings.

Check the flaps on opening the box tp make sure they are equal & have bind free travel. My original Left wing had the outer flapsticking up at the front. it wouldn't fully close. Fortunately I didnt build the wing(replaced after long wait). The right wing was a little tight to get to close so ended up with unequal travel. So I have 1 flap on the gear channel mixed in to get the throw adjusted.

I had trouble with the flaps too. Worked great after rehinging.

By the way I used a power 32 and an apc 13x6.5 for the maiden at Chilliwack.

I am a way slower builder, usually a couple of weeks for me. It took a month for me to build the floats.

Painting the engine & fitting it took much longer than I expected

Fitting cowl tip

Cut washers of fuel tubing about 3/32" and use them between the cown and the fuse. they will allow the bolts to be held in place. Then I propped the fuse on it's tail against my bench under a bright light & could screw the bolts in with relative ease.
