Welcome to the site. This is a great group of folks and just about anything RC can be found here. Hang in there on that boat...it is worth the wait. Come sail mine Sunday. Capt. Crash |

hpiguy,
I have done that before on other sites and it works well. I have also uploaded alot of pictures on this site before, but with the other 6 megapixel camera and not with the new 10 megapixel camera. I guess 10 megapixels is just too many for this site. I will get them posted soon. Some of them are pretty good. I don't think it will be tonight though as I am leaving in a little bit to go to a bonfire at the beach. Father inlaw flys in tomorrrow as well. Soon though I will get the pics up. I need to name my Nirvana. Any ideas guys? |

it's a stretched Bankert, at the moment it's basically getting a whole new refit I'm working on an outboard for a freind in trade for a complete running Springer tug... which will eventually get a new top put on it but it works the new Storm launcher is staying basically stock till the motors burn out... and the 2 broken SL's.. 1 set of elecs is going in a 1/144 Gato sub ... the last set I have no idea... I might keep the bits for spares ... or scratch build a Seaduck (tail spin ) oh... my Nirvana ofcourse is still in the mail... but I just picked up a an alum tube leg plastic top TV dinner tray for $4 .. rip the top off.. couple peices of Cotton rope.... Sail boat stand ... and the plastic top is now stock for the new cabin on my tug ... on a bit of a comical side note... I told the wifey finally that I had just bought all this stuff off Ebay, and we magically came home with a Stainless top kitchen cart/cabinet |

well I have come home going "get your coat, come look at this car I;m buying while I sign the papers"
but stuff like that is far between I limit my impulse buying to under $200 and usually only once or twice a year do I get the chance (that's all I keep available on my CC's for internet ordering ) and ofcourse.. the 'hobby' I just left was custom cars and racing.. so if she really wanted to get into it I'll get tell her my truck needs a new motor .. she much rathers I stick with RC stuff right now |

it's official.. I'm a Sailboat Captain now ... my Nirvana2 arrived a couple hours ago... it's put together sitting on it's supplied stand... I didn't really think about how TALL this thing is! .. I'm 6'3" and the top of the mast reachs my nose
anyone else have any improper factory assembly??? my main boom was upsidedown I had to undue the little bent pin, flip it around then reassemble.. for about 15 mins I was cursing that the Factory hadn't drilled the boom .. all in all took me 45 mins to assemble (never put a sail on a boat before) ... and I think I got another 45 mins in pealing the megatech and most of the block letter nirvana decals off .. they just seemed kinda tacky... so while I impatiently wait for Sunday morning to hit the lake.. I'll grab me some AA's and check all the functions and see if I need to adjust anything. |

hit the water for the first time this sunday... was kinda weird as the weather was dead wind.. then strong gusts.
got a decent clip going in a gust .. too strong for the servo to reel in the sail on a turn to come across the wind and back towards me trying to keep it close while I relearn sailboats. sail went slack .. then WHAM caught wind and promptly shoved 2/3rds of the hull under water, in the process of turning it out of that gust and having a little heart attack .. I brought it back in. quick check to make sure everything was okay ..water pooled on the deck but that was it. the wind died down to a gently breeze and a small flock of us (I think 7 in total only mine and 1 other weren't IOM's ) tried to get a little more sailing in before the breeze turned into scarey gusts again all in all.. I was happy, the nirvana took my newbie abuse so far with ease, hopefully next sunday will be a little more... stable? wind wise. |

Any ideas for replacing a lost jib sheet hook? In my haste to sail ASAP I didnt double check the knots the Chinamen made on my boat. Consequently, the jib sheet hook came up missing. Anyway, some advice will help.

That hook can be made of almost anthing. Try a small fishing snap swivel and use just what part of it you want and bend it to fit how you want.
