Sounds like fun. I think a Bee would be an ideal glider for this sort of thing. Easy to throw and catch, no hard pointy nose to hurt anyone. Several of the Front Rangers are especially good at throw and catch. I wonder how many times they could do it in a minute.

I met a guy in Monterey, Ca that was an amazing throw and catcher. He worked up a whole series of "tasks" for a similar type competition. Throw make a 180 turn then catch; throw do a roll and catch; throw do a loop and catch; etc. The later skills were quite complicated.

It might also be fun to play "HORSE" where two or more flyers would compete... calling their tricks before the throw. Receiving a letter when they missed a trick. Last one standing wins.

Ming, you seems to have an enthusiatic group of flyers, I am sure your event will be a success. It will certainly test the flying skills of the contestants. Good Luck.

I think the rule is quit simple.
Just try the best to finish two catches in one min.
And round by round.
Quit fair and simple.

I believe our front range record is 7 throws and catches in a minute by Sea Bass or me? I like the horse idea! When the winds completely die off we play throw and catch games sometimes or have long distance paper airplane flights! Hilarious!
I like to throw extra hard and try to nail someones glider while it is slow and coming in to land. Give it a quick swoop and smack, sending it into the ground in front of its pilot then come around and land if I'm lucky!
Let's just say several of the best pilots at Zion do not ever really need to move much at all if they do not want to. Lots of times I do not even stand up, just snatch it out of the air as it wobbles up going 3MPH at the top of a little stall. Plop!
I catch BIG heavy ones too but they never go 3MPH, more like 30MPH and you really want to recoil your hand as it makes contact or it hurts a bit. Way better then missing though! Way better then laning on rocks with a heavy ship too, IF you catch it.

I'll think you'll find 'Too many rules' is not a negative Tom. In THAT lies the answer to the UK 60" problem.
Hand catching can be fun - or not.........
