Try T.L.C (Southern) Ltd for 6mm depron. Sheets are 1200mm x 800mm and £4.95+VAT. Your local store should be happy to order some in if they don't have it in stock & even 1 sheet will be boxed. Only downside is that they only carry black. Follow this link

try this

vitrex premier wood laminate underlay board

available at screwfix, tile centre, sometimes b and q, etc.
It's 5mm, very slightly softer than depron but essentially the same. It is already olive green so good for an SE5, if you cover it with parcel tape, it shows through lighter colours.
Sticks and melts with the usual suspects, so no surprises.

The plus side is that it is easily available and you get just short of 10 square metres for £17.99.

When I buy a kit, I make a copy of all the parts in it. Great for experimental foamies!

Good information - thank you - although I suspect that the other posts found some elsewhere after nearly 9 years.

Hobbyking now sell something very similar.

davereap's Avatar ...the only place I found for 2mm foam
for proper depron... best to buy a box at a time, the sheets work out cheaper this way...

depron is getting more expensive... so I recommend......the cheapest option, Hobbyking foam in 3 or 5mm .. Ive just used some of their 3mm on my latest build and its fine.. I found it fractionally softer/bendier, and slightly more heat sensitive than depron.. but its good stuff, I will be using this instead of depron as my current stocks of proper depron run out..

that 5mm vitrex material also looks good and its cheap...... I see they do green sheets and a fanfold black version.. with same area coverage

Green Depron - Like Underlay

There's a product called vitrex underlay. Available from screwfix (68038) and homebase. Currently £17.99 a box in screwfix (around 10 square metres 5mm thick.) Cuts, glues and melts like depron. Slightly lower quality. You can fold great flying wings from it and makes good semi disposable hack models. i've used it for years, It's ok!$prodImageMedium$

Glad you posted as I'd given up trying to get anymore depron these days I was even looking at getting some from Germany yesterday. I might just try it, cheers

Thanks for the heads up on the Vitrex foam. I still have a dozen or so 1200x800mm sheets of 6mm depron aero sitting around, I'm reserving them for my large builds where I want continuous sheets. Elsewhere I've shifted to 5/10mm foamboard though I've had a nightmare of a time trying to get the paper off. Seems the US variant of foamboard is much easier to strip compared to what I can find here. A thorough soaking in 99.9% isopropyl alcohol does it, though that is now basically unavailable thanks to Covid. Tar and Glue remover also works though it can be too aggressive and damage the foam a bit.

The annoying thing is that I bought a massive batch of balsa wood based on using 6mm foam, eg 6mm balsa sheets and 6/12/18mm square/rectangular sections. None of that lines up properly with 5/10mm foam sheets.

Try just doing a google search on Depron sheet, a few model shops still list it, though many have the grey Depron.

Also try ebay.

This stuff is pretty close to Depron. I got mine from Wickes when doing underfloor heating in the workshop 🙂

I'm a bit of fan of B&Q's newish white foam, usually found in the insulation section (the older green stuff was often in the flooring section).

Somewhat less brittle and more crash-resistant than their green foam and as stiff.
