Depron in UK Superstores

Any of you UK foamie builders in the UK know where it is possible to by Depron in 2mm, 3mm, 5 or 6mm range thicknesses at any of the DIY suerstores (Wickes, B & Q, Homebase etc)? There was talk on this forum of B&Q doing green depron for a while but seems that is no longer stocked? I'm surprised it is not a more regularly stocked item?

I've never seen any type of depron/foam in the superstores other than the stuff in the thread you mentioned

This supplier is pretty good - you may want to buy a few sheets to get value out of the postage:

http://www.depronfoam.co.uk

Other than that, I'd try to find a local flooring stockist or good builders merchant who may be able to help.

Havnt found one UK DIY shop doing any type of usefule foam. I have had a box of 6mm white Depron delivered by Handyheat the delivery came within 3 days. Its a lot cheaper than the website in the above post but you have to buy more (full box).

Thanks guys. Yes I'm familiar with the site mentioned but it is a tad exensive, can't blame him as he needs to make a living, he gives an excellent service of always great quality Depron and a great selection of thicknesses BUT I'm amazed this stuff isn't more easily available? Oh well, thanks anyway.

blundering through
if it is coming in from germany, there will be no taes... EC and all

I too am on the look out for some depron -u-like, the B&Q thing puzzles me, as a shop in nottingham (B&Q) said just this morning, that I can get it in on special order, and they'll deliver direct to my address for a small fee, the chap I spoke to suggested that it would be better to have it delivered, as stuff tends to get lost when it gets in the store!!
I understand that the delivery charge is a fixedc fee just under £5 so if a few of you get together ands have a pile delivered then it is still well worth it.

It depends very much on which employee you get to speak to, so if you don't get the answere you want, ring back, or try another store!!
From the horses mouth!!

We have foam!

Partly inspired by this thread and partly by having the urge to build a solid full fuse plane of some description found this stuff at B&Q.

The aptly named Space Board is extruded polystyrene and has a light pink colour - £19.95 gets you 4 pieces @ 1200 x 500 x 52.5mm weighing in at reasonable 880g per sheet.
http://www.space-insulation.com/board.html

They also have Knauf Polyfoam which is exactly the same thing: http://www.knaufinsulation.co.uk/pro...loorboard.aspx

This took a couple hours of googling to find and whilst there are a good few sites you can buy similar stuff from online, this is by far the cheapest I think.

Looks like it will carve, sand, glue and hopefully fly nicely

I'll get a build log going once I've had a chop around.

Hey Guys,

In my quest to find some Depron sheet to make my first depron model I came across this site :

http://www.shop.floorheatingsystems....nsulation.html

I ordered 20 sheets of white 6mm, with free delivery £42.55+vat which works out about £50 for 20 sheets.
I didn't think that was bad at all so I brought a box and its great & will use them again if I need any more.

Try

http://www.depronfoam.com

instead of the .co.uk site mentioned.

I had to buy 20 sheets but the price includes postage in a large cardboard box .If you look at the prices charged by the UK shops they supply, you'll soon realise that you only need to use about 6 sheets to break even. Or you could split the cost with clubmates.

I found that these large sheets build a shock flyer out of one sheet or a park jet out of 2 sheets.

Personally I didn't split my box and now have 3 shockies and 3 parkjets with half a box left from last year. Seems cheap modelling even if it cost 60 quid.

This is still one of the cheapest, 6mm 10 sheets of 1.25M by 0.8M £32.30 next day free post as its over £25. Cost £3.23 a sheet. It is Grey but what the hell at that price, comes well packaged as well. (20 sheets is £58.60)

Just bought a pack of depron sheets from B&Q Bamber Bridge, Preston, J29 off the M6. They had about 10 packs in stock.
Now, where's all those foamies plans.....

Found some of the 6mm green depron-like foam in the B&Q Norwich store (Hellesdon). Bit surprised as a response to an e-mail to the web site clearly stated it was discontinued and they could not order me any.

It's still £11.98 for 10 1200x500mm sheets.

The sheets are softer and more plyable than the white depron sheets a local foamie kit manufacturer let me have. I guess it's just a question of more bracing to overcome this.

Built two planes from it so far, a VectorX and an EPPiper also got a Pawnee partly built. No extra bracing in mine, VectorX has only tape strip across bottom and the EPPiper two skewer struts as per plan. Both fly well, flew the EPPiper in 15-20mph wind this weekend no problem.
