hanger 9 sundowner 50

Has anyone seen this airplane? I ordered one the other day from my LHS. As this aircraft looks like a fast racer plane, I plan to fly it this way. I am not sure if a 2 stroke or four stroke would make for great high speed passes across the flight line. Any thoughts on this? Also the manual calls for upto a .52 two stroke or .82 four stroke. Realistically how big of an engine can I use. Remember this is intended mainly for speed!

sorry, nothing beats the sound and smell of glow fuel in the morning. If you could reproduce that and get rid of the mess I'd be on board. Until then burn baby burn!

I guess you realize the OP is talking about the 50-size version, not the 1.60.

Airplane Gearhead
Jett .90 or at least a good, hot .61 (2 stroke).

I bought a Saito .82 for it. I plan on using a 13X8 prop to start with. I will probably experiment with prop size to get the best speed. Unfortunately, the plane is still on back order.

Just got off the phone with Horizon Hobby and the say that the back order is pushed back to the end of February.

I got mine last night. I want to go with a hot brushless setup. Any ideas other than the recomended 46 or the E-Flte 60?

If a Saito .82 fits and is OK to fly this, how about a YS 110? You can never have too much firepower sarge

I picked mine up on Thursday and have started to put it together. I spent most of today running and breaking in the new Saito .82 engine. Ran about a half gallon through it. I will finish putting it together tomorrow.

This is by FAR the easiest ARF that I have ever assembled. Everything fits great. All the little things that are already done for you saves a ton of time! I think they said to themselve's, "what do most hate about building an ARF?" The cowl blocks are already glued on, the horns are already mounted on the ailerons/ele/rud. the blind nuts are already in place in the firewall ( I hate doing all of this!) Good stuff

I just finished putting the Sundowner 50 together. Now I just have to wait for this spring to get to fly it.
