is there anyway to get a truck receiver ready, I already have a radio system and I don't want to spend extra money on that stuff (Transmitter, battery, receiver)

I'm sure there must be a receiver ready truck out there somewhere...

Here is a link, why not click on it and see if you can find one?

Thanks for all the great info, I just have another question:
Do you have to use a Lipo compatible ESC or will this work:

XL-5

Lipo compatible ESC is a MUST, otherwise you will ruin your lipos.

That XL-5 is not setup for lipos.
I think you can get a LVC (low voltage cutoff) device to add on to it, to make it lipo compatible, but I'm not sure where.

Run time is determined by battery capacity.

Such as 3000mah, 1800 mah, etc.

mah = milliamp hours

Generally, the bigger the number, the longer it will run.

How long it runs depends on the truck and alot of other variables, like how much you use full throttle, for example.

I don't know of any truck that can run for 30 minutes, (although there may be some).

All you could do is get the biggest battery (mah) that will fit the truck, and try it.

Sure, but it's a bigger battery the more mah you want, they make d cell NIMH batteries that carry 8000 and 10,000 mah, but you get limited by the size of your vehicle. Right now in this 1/6 RPV I run about 50minutes to an hour. I have two 8000MAH Lipo batteries in it, the stock emaxx esc plus I only run dual lathe motors cause speed is not an issue for me,,, distance and run time is. It still goes about 25MPH, which feels like 50MPH from inside the truck. Timed batteries, no lipo cut offs. You don't need em unless your forgetful . I'm running 7 servos on a seperate 3000mah receiver battery that controls the truck, while the motors use the 8000mahs only. Plus one more 3 cell lipo for the camera system. Ya she's a heffa, but it helps in the woods, it'll run down most twiggs, rocks and branchs. Full time 4x4 with locked axles helps too.
What I'm tryin to say with all this info is you can build anything, your only limited by the amount of research your willing to do,,,,well,,, and how deep your pockets are.

Have you tried the Submarine forum? That's where the mini FPV sub picture came from. If you seach like I did you'll find the info here at RCG . The sub is cool and I was going to build one. Problems are the video range when your more then 3 feet deep. Though you can make a floating antenna that could be teathered to the sub for more range and if the sub had issues underwater you will be able to locate it without going for a swim . I expect from my past reseach the mini FPV sub will be costly but should be awesome if you do it .

I use lipos with the Traxxas XL5. You can use a lipo cut off like a "Smart Stop" for $20 but I don't use anything. I do use a TX timer so I don't run them down below 20% .
