Saito 100 Engine flooding problems

I've got a Saito 100 and I'm using it inverted in a UCD. I tried to
start the engine for the first time today and immediately had problems
with engine flooding. I tried to turn the prop over and fuel would
spit out through the carb and leak out through the exhaust. What do I
do to avoid this and get the engine to start? I've got a Saito .91
mounted at about the 8:00 position on an Extra and have never had a
flooding problem with it....

Thanks,
Wayne

Have you checked your fuel tank height ? The center of the tank should be
within 1/4" of the needle valve. If it is more than this it will cause
the problems you are having. I found this out the hard way on a Saito 72.

I agree with Ted. It sounds as though your fuel tank is too high.

Other than the obvious solution of changing the engine's position in
relation to the fuel tank, there is one way that you can deal with the
problem.

Cline and Associates manufacture and sell a fuel pressure regulator
that works with four-stroke engines without any machining. In fact,
all you have to do is plug it into your fuel tubing/muffler pressure
fittings in the proscribed manner and go flying. Problem solved.

There are no adjustments to be made to the regulator. It is automatic.
I don't have their website address handy, but a search on Google
should yield immediate results. You may have to readjust your carb's
settings. Good flying.
