COX .049 FUEL

Hi
what mix of fuel do you use for a Cox .049engine
please give me ratios as nitro meth and oil
my son was given a small control line model and I have no idea what fuel to
run in it
cannot use Cox fuel as there is no model shops out here
thanking you

Hi Dean,
Nitro =25% +
Oil = 20%

It will run on less Nitro but won't develop max power and could be hard
starting. Good luck with that Ukie - Brings back memories <sniff> :-)

You have to use castor in these engines because of the ball joint in the piston
so that means getting some Castrol M and not castor from the local chemist.
Also these engines like lots of nitro which in this case means about 15-25%. So
what you need is a mix of 20% castor, 15+% nitro and the rest methanol.
Where in the outback are you?

Re: COX .049 FUEL

We race 1/2 A's around here. We were using 25% Power Master with enough
Castor added to make a total oil content of around 22%. This sells for
about 10 bucks a quart. BUT now most of us have switched to 30% heli
fuel with 22% synthic/Castor mix. This goes for 22 to 23 bucks a gallon.
Runs just as good or better. You want Castor with at least 20% or 22% is
even better and at least 25% Nitro.

Does Tower Hobbies ship to Oz? I know they carry Cox fuel but I am
ignorant of the shipping situation to where you are. Just a thought.
