Thanks for the tip, I just bought one, can't beat the price for a 2 meter moldie. We'll see how long it lasts on the Las Vegas slopes with a little DS.

Thanks again.

You may have gotten the last one...they are showing "out of stock" now. I ordered mine just before I posted this thread, of course.

Shoot....

bad news...I just got off the phone with Hobby-Lobby. They sent me a shipping confirmation that showed the Makis is not being shipped. I called and they said that it was indeed out of stock although their website showed that it was in stock when I ordered.

Apparently, their inventory is not "real time", so if anyone else ordered one today, you may want to call them to check on this.

that's a bit of a downer.

$230 is not to be sniffed at. You have to wonder what's happening with the luna/makis. I wonder if the supply as dried up or what, given that hobby lobby seem to be ending the selling of them.

Yeah, I'm bummed. I thought I got a great deal. My guess is that at $400 US, the Makis did not sell very well for a Chinese moldie competing with the East European counterparts for a similar price. IMO, it just wasn't worth $400 from a purely economics standpoint. People intuitively understand this and expect Chinese imports to be priced accordingly. $230 certainly was a good price though!

yeah the price of the luna isn't that low compared to things like the 2m Ruby. Maybe the hype got a bit out of control.

I suspect a large order fulfilled by China in mid 2006, which probably went to HL as the Makis, as well as a bunch to Modelfright in Australia. This would explain why I had so many problems getting the "joiner" for mine...

I also heard that the model is not being made any more, so this is probably an end of run clearance. It's a shame as it is a great model, and flies like a baby. Don't worry too much about the Vegas rocks... hand catching is a doddle.

Got my Makis for $230!

I got one! Apparently, there was a glitch in the system as I must have placed my order right when they were changing the status of the item which disallowed the item to be placed on my order. They still have a few in stock and I'm getting one of them! I'd like to thank Jason Cole of Hobby Lobby (RCGroups member "Flyboone") for looking into the matter personally and making things happen. No outfit is perfect but it's the extra effort and customer service that defines a business and keeps me coming back. I've been a Hobby Lobby customer for nearly 20 years and needless to say I will continue to patronize them in the future.

Thanks Jason & Hobby Lobby,
