HELP Please!!.....yes another newbie!!

HELP Please.........!!

Ok so there i am with new Walkere 22E fresh out of the box.....
Must learn to fly on the simulator first....
Install the FMS software on the laptop and it runs up fine
Put new batteries in the transmitter plug in the cable to the back then the other end into the laptop........NOTHING....
Tried playing with the settings on tehhe laptop but with no joy..
The cable i have has a D type serial connector (9-pin)

Now i have been searching through the forum and there is lots of talk of new cables, rewiring the cable, using the sound card?, serial to USB converter etc.etc.

So can anyone help me make sense of it all?
What software/driver do i need to get it up and running?
Or do i need some new hardware/cable modification?

You'd think it would come with suitable instructions......alas no so hopefully you good people out there can help...before i decide sod it and fly the chopper with out learning on a sim!!!

Apologise if i'm asking the same old questions...just getting very confused!! (which is very easily done!)

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

I screwed around with ppjoy and everything else trying to get a serial cable to work. I even bought a serial to USB converter, but to no avail. I finally just bought a USB calbe on ebay and it works great. The underlying problem, from the way I understand it, is that XP doesn't like serial ports.

I had similar problems when I started with my honey bee CP2. Then I found this cable on Ebay and works like a charm for me. Perfect for clearview and others. Esky TX or Futaba.

Take the back off that TX and make sure there are wires running to the DPIN connector. Some of them have none so I have heard. Walkera

I am sure that the Tx will have wires connected to the "DPIN". No need to open it

Salmas does your cable connect to the computer via pararell or USB???

Parerell gave lots of trouble. Useless, with USB NONE AT ALL

Give us more info about the cable you are using. Any links of where you bought it??

The cable is a serial cable so not USB or Parralel and it sounds like my problem is the use of serial cable with XP. the game pad is a good idea although i would like to learn with the actual Tx i will be using....probably make no difference at all!!
Looks like just buying a USB cable is the way to go although i will look at the PPJOY???
I'll let you know how i get on
Thanks for the advice guys will get back to you with the next set of question once i have trashed the heli after first flight.......!!!!! )

Looks like i have the cable you detail on your website.
So will PPJOY the get the controller working through the serial port on my laptop? (XP)
Did it work well for you?

Yes but mine is a 4#1 and I think you have a 22e. It's worth a try though.
