HELP Please.......yes another newbie!!

HELP Please.........!!

Ok so there i am with new Walkere 22E fresh out of the box.....
Must learn to fly on the simulator first....
Install the FMS software on the laptop and it runs up fine
Put new batteries in the transmitter plug in the cable to the back then the other end into the laptop........NOTHING....
Tried playing with the settings on tehhe laptop but with no joy..
The cable i have has a D type serial connector (9-pin)

Now i have been searching through the forum and there is lots of talk of new cables, rewiring the cable, using the sound card?, serial to USB converter etc.etc.

So can anyone help me make sense of it all?
What software/driver do i need to get it up and running?
Or do i need some new hardware/cable modification?

You'd think it would come with suitable instructions......alas no so hopefully you good people out there can help...before i decide sod it and fly the chopper with out learning on a sim!!!

Apologise if i'm asking the same old questions...just getting very confused!! (which is very easily done!)

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

Pack up the Walkera and send it back. Get a better heli, save yourself some serious aggravation.
