I've recently returned to the hobby after a 10 year layoff. I'm ready to move up to a more spirited airplane. I saw a Tango in our local hobby shop that looks like fun. I'd like an airplane that's easy to take off and land but can cut up pretty good in the air. I'd like to make it as an electric flyer. What are your thoughts on this plane?

A buddy of mine bought 1 and we're ready to Tango.
I own a twist which is also easy to fly and do stunts, now we're going to see who's the flatspin king.

Now I've seen a few vid's on the Tango and it looks like I may have my hands full.
I'd go for it

Just found this thread Im in with a tango also it was the easiest plane Ive ever built Im running a evo .46nt with a apc 11/4 prop...My plane flies very good but was having trouble with the evo so I put a oring kit in and hopefully that cures it...If not new engine!!!!

i have this plane, but i havent built it up yet, i am unsure how good a set of servos i need? i also plan to use an asp .46 in it, do you think this will give it enough power?

I'd go with an OS 61AX, this plane is a high wing twist.
I fly a twist 40 with an OS 61 FX and it's great.

i already have a .46 not in use, so i was hoping it would work! id looovvveeee to put an os engine in it! but i just cant afford it :P

Go For It, you can always put a larger engine in it later, main thing is get her flyable

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on mounting an OS 46 engine on the Tango 40. I'm new to R/C, so excuse my ignorance. What model/type/brand engine mount would be appropriate in this case? The fire wall on my Tango fuse (recently purchased) has nine (9) threaded holes for various types of engine mounts, but the mount I have for my OS 46 doesn'r properly line up with these pre-drilled engine mount holes in the fire wall. I suppose the only option is to drill new holes for the engine mount, yes? Or are there other options? Thanks in advance for your help.

Gasoline Power ?


I saw a thread here for a 10cc gasoline engine (from Evolution). That's .60 cu. in. in "real' numbers. The posts seem to be mostly positive so I ordered one. But I did that before I thought about what to put it in. I searched and searched but nothing really hit my fancy - and then . . . I saw an ad for the Tango .40.

So, I have the engine and I have the ARF - and two projects already on the bench. However, perhaps with a little encouragement here, I might be tempted to put my current plans on hold.

1, Has anyone tried one of these small gasoline engines in a Tango - with reasonable results?
2, Or should I just wimp out and take the 'safe' route and mount a two-stroke, glow engine up front?

I think the Tango can handle that evo.
The Tango only has one bad trait and that is snapping with the application of rudder once she lifts off. To prevent this one just needs to let off the rudder just before applying elevator.
Other than that she is a wonderful flyer.
