Honestly you want a honeybee FP, and have lots of change left over for parts

You need a bigger budget.

About $460, and wait another month or two.

I agree... it's a big step up from the cx2, and you can buy lots of batteries for it... and it will use the same batts as your cx2.

If you absolutely have to have a CCPM machine, the King V2 is right in your price range.

You need to get out now!

Trust me.

...

Naaaaaaaaaah. Save up and get a T-Rex or, get a Honeybee FP2 (I love mine still, no matter how good I get at flying, nothing beats crashing that stupid thing into trees, picking it up and flying off again =])

There is a massive step between flying a coax and doing 3D with a Collective pitched heli. The FP is fixed pitch so no it doesnt do 3D, but is a good next step and introduces you gradually as to how a "real" rc heli flys (totally different to a coax ) Going from coax to a 3D capable CP heli is along the same lines as riding a tricycle to jumping on a super bike very steep, expensive and frustrating, learning curve.

All helis in good hands look stable. Don't expect to hover the FP out of the box. It is so different from a CX. You will be starting from scratch. Put trainers on. Get a sim and a gamepad. See how the rc heli feels.

4.5 Kilowatts of Awesome

AFAIK, the only difference between the two is the batteries that are included with each. MKII comes with a NiMH and MKIII comes with a LiPo.

They are one and the same airframe. They've been christened with V versions by merchants who include different accessories as standard.

If you get the MK3, the lipo is much lighter, so be sure to mount the battery forward to get the right CG. The link below gives a lot of good information on getting it ready to fly out of the box
