Sorry we didn't get a chance to chat in Vegas. My leg kinda kept me grounded Thursday and Friday, but Saturday an Sunday it was fine Chances to meet other RCG's members are few and I hate it when I miss a chance! Next year!

Yes, get a stiffie when I see a g'hawk -- first military aerobatics I remember seeing.
Did you ever read the book from Corky Meyer (the famous Grumman test pilot) ? I love the story of the Rolls-Royce English engineer talking (with so British accent and full of imagery vocabulary) about the differences between English and American turbojet engines

Well you gotta love the Chinese, well sort of anyway. I had picked this up at Walmart on sale a while back. I/18th scale I think. I can't find my plastic kit of the F-86 so I'll use this for detail work. Working control surfaces, gear & doors too, sliding canopy, etc.
All fo $30! A 1/48th plastic kit would probably cost more than that.
And not a bad color scheme!

There are several good schemes. Gotta love those silver birds! I think I might give this one the same treatment the F-4E got. It will take awhile though.

I did an Alfa in that Scheme After these pic's I put the wing tanks on it painted to match as well. It's the one I took to SEFF last year and UPS destoyed it on the trip home It looked like they played footbasll with the box bot it and my Mig were in. Neither were repairable

rvincent- nice looking bird there! sorry to hear about its demise. sad to hear she didn't go down in a dogfight or something instead of mauled by the mailing companies.

J- i've pretty much finished up the conversion for the 1/8th MiG-15. you'll have to add whatever airfoil you decide upon. also, all i did was enlarge the skins. in the past, shrinking or enlarging the skins still worked like a charm, but i've never made this much of an enlargement before. i'd recommend test cutting a couple skins to see if they work before commiting an entire evening to cutting out each skin only to find out they are too small. also, i'm pretty sure that the final tail skin (left top, right top and bottom) will be inaccurate. i changed the aft fuse planform to make it a little more scale. mine didn't look quite right. so, the new version looks more like a true circular ending tail cone. also, i assumed that you'd be doing your classic firewall type mount instead of stick mount, so i spent a couple hours last night fixing up the aft section. on my 1/11th scale version, i used 6mm FFF sandwiched by 2x 3mm depron for the fin. on your 1/8th, i used 2x 6mm FFF with 1/4" balsa LE strips. i'm guessing you'll be sanding the fin to an airfoil shape as well. only thing left to do is to try and fit them onto paper to make it such that the least amount of cutting/taping is necessary, but i you thought the 140% MiG-21 was a lot 'o sheets, hang on to your hat for this puppy!
