I'm definately going to get one as soon as my finances recover a bit. I've bought a lot of planes lately so I need to cool it and just fly for a bit. As far as a winter project, I'm in Florida, so I'm going to just keep flying. Most years the last half of January and the first half of Feb is too cold and windy to have much fun outside, but we pretty much fly year round here. However, if we do have a cold snap, I'll probably build up an Addiction. |

Hello Doc Austin,
The Addiction is getting some impressive reviews. Would you be willing to add your post about it to the Addiction site? Thanks, rc https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=721432 |

I just started a Stevens Aero Edge 540. It's going together very quickly, I don't think the build will last very long... definitely not a "winter build." I like SA's new Shaft, and I like their Cap 40e too... I've also been thinking about a Manzano Waco. Too many decisions for one winter.

I don't understand!
How can a RTF or ARF be a winter project? They build themselves in a weekend or two. You guys need to get some nice kits going. I like the SA Edge-540 and MM P-51 choices. The P-51 kit is a great build. |

Yeah, a building surface such as a bulletin board or ceiling tile that is flat. Some waxed paper. Some pins. an exacto knife and some glue. Maybe some tape here and there. That is pretty much the bare minimum basics that will get you through most kits that are meant to be first time building kits.

My hopes this winter is to get two planes built from scratch... Or at the very least one that's flyable. It'd be nice to have a second plane available, and honestly buying an ARF for the first one wasn't as satisfying during construction. Any plane I build must expand my vocabulary by at least two or three words that I'm unable to repeat at family gatherings... (can you tell I built a fair number of plastic kits prior to this step?)
The real project this winter is to finalize my selection of clubs and pay the fees... |
