Quick question; in this video is my wing swing enough? I have a funny feeling that with the wings fully swept open it's not enough;

As he said above, it will still fly fine, but the wing should typically open to the point that the trailing edge is nearly perpendicular to the fuselage. If you have end point adjustment on your radio, then it is simple to adjust it. If you can't adjust your end points, then I wouldn't worry about it.
Happy Flying!

Well, I took apart the "metal gear" servo that I used for the swing wing on my F-14. Apparently this milky white substance used in the second gear is some sort of metal. Funny, it sure looks like plastic to me...

This is a Corona CS-939MG for anyone who wants to steer clear of it.

Corona said "metal gear" not "Metal Gears". So at least one of them is metal! What do you expect for $2.39

I know, I know, you get what you pay for. At least they are sending me a replacement free of charge.

Beautiful! Is that actual glass, or is it lexan or some other clear plastic? And is it the full size model, or scaled down?

It's not a special servo. Any quality 17 gram servo should have enough torque to do the wing sweep. It is also recommended to use one with metal gears as plastic/nylon gears are too susceptible to strip if you catch a wing tip on landing.

Did you apply smooth tape or slick stuff the the inside parts that touch the wing ?
Slick friction free or friction reduced contact points is the Cure for swing wing ills.
B'sides isnt the 65 a little on the small size ? I though the 85mg was the recommended servo.

Hi Bob,
the recommended servo is the HS-65HB, at least thats whats in the setup of the OP. the 65MG is just the metal Geared version.

and yes, tape on all the underside bits that the wings touch. its either my battery is dead or its rubbing somehwere... grr
